{"id":550362,"date":"2026-01-29T00:44:13","date_gmt":"2026-01-29T00:44:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/550362\/"},"modified":"2026-01-29T00:44:13","modified_gmt":"2026-01-29T00:44:13","slug":"tesla-discontinuing-model-s-and-model-x-to-make-room-for-robots","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/550362\/","title":{"rendered":"Tesla discontinuing Model S and Model X to make room for robots"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">Tesla will discontinue the Model S and Model X in the second quarter of 2026, Elon Musk said in an earnings call with investors today.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">Musk said the reasons for cancelling the vehicle programs was to make room at Tesla\u2019s Fremont factory for production of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/transportation\/869746\/tesla-optimus-gen-3-q1-2026-earnings\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">its Optimus humanoid robot<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">\u201cIt\u2019s time to basically bring the Model S and X programs to an end with an honorable discharge, because we\u2019re really moving into a future that is based on autonomy,\u201d he said. \u201cSo if you\u2019re interested in buying a Model S and X, now would be the time to order it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">The Model S is Tesla\u2019s luxury sedan, first released in 2012, while the Model X was its SUV with gull-wing doors, introduced in 2015. Sales of both vehicles has been declining steadily, as the company shifted focus to its mass-market Model 3 and Model Y.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">In 2025, Tesla sold 50,850 \u201cother models,\u201d a category that includes Model S, Model X, and Cybertruck.
