The HBO Max crime thriller series \u201cDuster\u201d has been canceled after one season. <\/p>\n

\u201cWhile HBO Max will not be moving forward with a second season of \u2018Duster,\u2019 we are so grateful to have had the chance to work with the amazingly talented co-creators J.J. Abrams and LaToya Morgan, and our partners at Bad Robot and Warner Bros. Television,\u201d the streaming platform said in a statement to Entertainment Weekly<\/a>. \u201cWe are tremendously proud of this series led by Josh Holloway and Rachel Hilson, and we thank them along with our cast and crew for their incredible collaboration and partnership.\u201d<\/p>\n

The show marked Abrams\u2019 reunion with Holloway, who starred as James Sawyer on another series Abrams cocreated: \u201cLost.\u201d In \u201cDuster,\u201d Holloway played getaway car driver Jim Ellis. <\/p>\n

Season 1 of \u201cDuster\u201d followed Jim as he teamed up with the FBI\u2019s first Black woman agent, Nina Hayes (Rachel Hilson), to take down crime boss Ezra Saxton (Keith David). Season 1 ended with a big reveal about a mysterious figure named Xavier, who had ties to Saxton.<\/p>\n

The twist \u2014 which I won\u2019t spoil here \u2014 would\u2019ve made for an interesting second season, but now we\u2019ll never see one. Fans took to social media to express their frustration with HBO Max\u2019s decision to axe \u201cDuster.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s no way in hell they really cancelled duster someones about to DIE,\u201d one person wrote via X.<\/p>\n

\u201cDuster literally came out on may 15\u2026its not even been 2 months yet! duster has been gaining on audience by word of mouth despite the lackluster promotion, its highly rated, the set designs and costumes are gorgeous and writing is good,\u201d another viewer argued. \u201cHbo didnt even try ;\/ this is sick.\u201d<\/p>\n

Holloway has yet to publicly address Duster\u2019s cancelation. He told Entertainment Weekly<\/a> in May that Abrams pitched him the show just as he began wondering if he\u2019d ever \u201cwork again.\u201d He recalled thinking the series\u2019 concept was \u201cphenomenal\u201d from the start. <\/p>\n

\u201c[Abrams] just opened the conversation with, \u2018You\u2019re a fixer for the mafia in 1972.\u2019 And I was like, \u2018Oh, my God, my mind just blew up.\u2019 There\u2019s nothing like it on TV right now. It is like \u2018Pulp Fiction\u2019 meets \u2018Starsky & Hutch,\u2019\u201d Holloway said.<\/p>\n

Season 1 of of \u201cDuster\u201d is <\/b>available to stream on HBO Max<\/b><\/a>. <\/b><\/p>\n
