My Backyard Birding set up a camera in their yard, focused on a small basin of water they picked up at a flea market. They thought it would be fun to see which birds might stop by, but they never expected the level of cuteness the footage would capture!<\/p>\n
Turns out, three baby raccoons<\/a> decided it would be fun to play in the tub, and took turns splashing around in it. There were also some tiny balls, perfectly sized for their hands, that they had fun playing with too. By mid-summer, the kits begin supervised exploring and foraging. The young raccoons will remain under mom\u2019s protection for many months yet and may even den with her through their first winter. Raccoon kits cannot be independent of their mother until October of their first year.\u201d<\/p>\n Did you know that baby raccoons aren’t born with the masks that they’re famous for? At 10 weeks, you can see their masks, but the colour will continue to darken as they age.”<\/p>\n Another cool fact is the way the babies<\/a> walk when they’re out and about. “If you see a mother raccoon out and about with her little ones, you\u2019ll notice that they all move in a straight line when travelling.
