They thought it would be fun to see which birds might stop by, but they never expected the level of cuteness the footage would capture!

Turns out, three baby raccoons decided it would be fun to play in the tub, and took turns splashing around in it. There were also some tiny balls, perfectly sized for their hands, that they had fun playing with too. Make sure to flip through because there are three different recordings of playtime!

We had as much fun watching these little raccoons play as they did! We laughed at the two who kept play-fighting; it’s proof that they’re all really siblings!

Viewer @stones_of_venice had our favorite comment, “Forget ‘a barrel full of monkeys’, nothing’s better than a basin full of raccoons! LOL! And they just love the balls! Their sweet innocence is heartwarming, and it’s pure joy watching this. Raccoon kits cannot be independent of their mother until October of their first year.”

Did you know that baby raccoons aren’t born with the masks that they’re famous for? Skeedaddle Humane Wildlife Control shared, “Babies are nearly bald, and the little fur they do have is lighter than adult fur. They do not begin to develop their markings until they are several weeks old. At 10 weeks, you can see their masks, but the colour will continue to darken as they age.”

Another cool fact is the way the babies walk when they’re out and about. “If you see a mother raccoon out and about with her little ones, you’ll notice that they all move in a straight line when travelling. As with ducks and geese, the baby raccoons line up behind mom whenever they’re on the move!”

This story was originally published by PetHelpful on Jan 28, 2026, where it first appeared in the Pet News section.
