JERSEY CITY, New Jersey (WABC) — Massive flames burned through the roof of an apartment building in Jersey City, injuring one firefighter.<\/p>\n

It happened on Palisades Avenue, near Ferry Street.<\/p>\n

The fire started just before 2 a.m. on the top floor of the four-story building.<\/p>\n

Firefighters said there was heavy fire in floors 2, 3 and 4 throughout the walls and into the cockloft.<\/p>\n

One firefighter was treated for a back injury.<\/p>\n

The Red Cross provided 13 people from four families with emergency assistance for temporary lodging, food, clothing, and other immediate needs.<\/p>\n

The cause of the fire is under investigation.<\/p>\n
