{"id":553152,"date":"2026-01-30T04:45:09","date_gmt":"2026-01-30T04:45:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/553152\/"},"modified":"2026-01-30T04:45:09","modified_gmt":"2026-01-30T04:45:09","slug":"nets-may-make-offer-for-giannis-antetokounmpo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/553152\/","title":{"rendered":"Nets May Make Offer For Giannis Antetokounmpo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Although the <strong>Nets<\/strong> clearly aren\u2019t focused on winning games this season, they\u2019ve long had their sights set on <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/a\/antetgi01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-01-29_bbr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Giannis Antetokounmpo<\/a><\/strong> and their rebuild shouldn\u2019t prevent them from making an offer for the <strong>Bucks<\/strong> superstar, says <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/01\/29\/sports\/tanking-nets-should-make-push-for-giannis-antetokounmpo\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Brian Lewis of The New York Post<\/a> (subscriber link). Multiple sources Lewis has spoken to said the Nets plan to be competitive in 2026\/27.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThen this is their moment,\u201d one league source told The Post. \u201cReally depends on if they decide that their aimless tank is over. They could sure make the best offer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As Lewis writes, \u201cbest\u201d is a relative term and an ideal offer for Milwaukee depends on what the team is prioritizing. But the Nets certainly have a large stash of draft assets if they decide to pursue the two-time MVP.<\/p>\n<p>On the latest edition of the Hoop Collective podcast (<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=DoPGOhNyMsA&amp;t=844s\" rel=\"noopener\">YouTube link<\/a>), ESPN\u2019s Brian Windhorst agreed that the Nets could be a suitor for Antetokounmpo, Lewis notes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBrooklyn has 10 tradable firsts, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/p\/portemi01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-01-29_bbr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Michael Porter Jr.<\/a><\/strong> and 11 tradeable firsts as of draft night,\u201d Windhorst said. \u201c\u2026 I think Brooklyn will seriously consider making an offer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lewis\u2019 aforementioned source assumed Porter would be involved in an outgoing package for Giannis, but an assistant GM thought the 27-year-old forward would be more likely stay in Brooklyn, speculating that <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/c\/claxtni01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-01-29_bbr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Nic Claxton<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/m\/mannte01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-01-29_bbr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Terance Mann<\/a><\/strong> would be included instead for salary-matching purposes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Nets make a lot of sense for him,\u201d one Eastern Conference assistant GM told Lewis. \u201cThey have some good future picks. [They] could, in theory, trade five future [first-round] picks, keep this year\u2019s pick, shut him down for the year?
