Alejo Veliz will return to Rosario Central on loan and one of Argentina\u2019s biggest modern-day stars is excited to play with the Tottenham striker.<\/strong><\/p>\n

After struggling to get regular game time and make the expected impact in his loan spells at Espanyol and Sevilla over the last two seasons, Tottenham Hotspur<\/a> have decided to send the striker to an environment he is comfortable in.<\/p>\n

Spurs have confirmed that Veliz will return to Rosario Central on loan<\/a>, two years on from swapping the Argentine side for North London.<\/p>\n

Tottenham have the option to recall Veliz at the end of 2025<\/a>,\u00a0and they have not given Rosario a permanent purchase clause.<\/p>\n

The youngster will be keen to get his career back on track at his boyhood club and he will now get to share the dressing room with one of Argentina\u2019s greatest modern-day stars, Angel Di Maria.<\/p>\n

That is something that Veliz<\/a> will undoubtedly be excited about, but it turns out that Di Maria is just as excited about playing alongside the Tottenham man.<\/p>\n

Speaking just before the move became official, the former Real Madrid man told ESPN<\/a> (via Ole<\/a> and translated by Sport Witness<\/a>) about Veliz: \u201cI was talking [to Veliz] while I was coming to the stadium. He told me to send his regards. I told him that if I did, it was because he was coming [back to the club]. He replied that I should send them his regards, ha. <\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m sure he\u2019s watching me. It would be very nice if he could come back. I know it\u2019s difficult; he\u2019s young and has many offers. For him to have the initiative to want to come back and play with me at Gigante [Estadio Gigante de Arroyito, Rosario\u2019s home stadium] would be very nice.\u201d<\/p>\n

Have Tottenham made the right decision regarding Veliz?<\/p>\n

One can certainly understand why Veliz wanted to return to home comforts and experience playing alongside a legend like Di Maria.<\/p>\n

Spurs<\/a> perhaps wanted to give the forward what he wanted after he endured two difficult seasons in Europe. However, one can argue that it may have been much better for his development to loan him to a Championship club.<\/p>\n

We already know that the 21-year-old can score goals in the Primera Division, and his market value is unlikely to improve considerably should he shine back at Rosario.<\/p>\n
