CHICAGO (WLS) — Bursts of lake-effect snow are continuing to fall in the Chicago area on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Click here to watch<\/a><\/p>\n ABC7 AccuWeather Meteorologist Mark McGinnis said snow is expected to pick up between 5:30 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. It will wind down by late afternoon and evening.<\/p>\n Areas along the lakefront could see another 2-4 inches of snow on Saturday, and it will be cold and cloudy throughout the day.<\/p>\n Watch the latest 7-day outlook from the ABC7 AccuWeather Team.<\/p>\n This comes as the accumulating snow has been impacting travel on roadways and at Chicago’s airports.<\/p>\n On Saturday morning, ABC7’s Christian Piekos is in the ABC7 Storm Tracker in northwest Indiana, where lake-effect snow is impacting road conditions.<\/p>\n ABC7’s Christian Piekos is in the ABC7 Storm Tracker in northwest Indiana, where lake-effect snow is impacting road conditions.<\/p>\n Snowplow drivers could be seen working around the clock to clear roadways.<\/p>\n Snow totals around Chicago area as of 10 p.m. Friday:<\/strong> As of 5:32 a.m. Saturday, 91 flights have been canceled at Chicago O’Hare International Airport with delays averaging 21 minutes.<\/p>\n At Chicago Midway International Airport, just six flights have been canceled with delays averaging less than 15 minutes.<\/p>\n On Friday, a deicing truck made contact with the wingtip of American Airlines plane, Flight 2121 from Chicago to Boston, at O’Hare, officials said.<\/p>\n “The aircraft was taken out of service to be inspected by our maintenance team and the flight will depart shortly on a replacement aircraft,” a statement from American Airlines read, in part.<\/p>\n No injuries were reported.<\/p>\n Northern suburbs were hit hard on Friday, especially in the area along the Edens Expressway. The intense and steady snowfall caused slippery roadways and plenty of crashes on Friday.<\/p>\n Snow continued to fall Friday night in Northwest Indiana, making roads dangerous.<\/p>\n More cold, but dry weather is forecast for upcoming the week.
