\n\tUPDATED: <\/strong>Amid the opening monologue schmoozing, Trevor Noah<\/a>, back for one last go-round as host of the\u00a0Grammy Awards<\/a> his sixth and final time<\/a>, took a shot at MAGA barbie herself Nicki Minaj<\/a>, deriding the embattled rapper.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cNicki Minaj is not here, she is not here, uh,\u201d he began, drawing loud attendee cheers. He continued, with his best impression of the POTUS: \u201cShe is still at the White House with Donald Trump<\/a> discussing very important issues: \u2018Actually, Nicki, I have the biggest ass, I have it. Everybody\u2019s saying it Nicki, I know they say it\u2019s you, but it\u2019s me. Womp womp womp, look at it baby.’\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tWhile Minaj has been nominated during music\u2019s biggest night 12 times, she has never won. The last time she received a nod was in 2024, for her track \u201cBarbie World\u201d for Greta Gerwig\u2019s Barbie film.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Emmy-winning, and Grammy-nominated comedian, who is also serving as executive producer for the\u00a0Feb. 1 ceremony, held at Downtown Los Angeles\u2019 Crypto.com Arena<\/a>, started his monologue by making a joke about Bruno Mars and Ros\u00e9\u2019s hit song \u201cAPT.\u201d \u2014 based on a popular Korean drinking game. Outlining the rules of the involved game, he quipped, \u201cIn America, every time you turn on the news, you drink.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIn an opener that eschewed outright political statements and instead gestured toward the state of national politics, the host noted legendary hip-hop\/neo-Soul artist Lauryn Hill would be taking the stage for the first time since the turn of the millennium.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cBack in 1999, the president had had a sex scandal, people thought computers were about to destroy the world and Diddy was arrested \u2014 boy how times have changed,\u201d Noah said.<\/p>\n

\n\tElsewhere, while shouting out the starry audience \u2014 from Jamie Foxx to Pharrell to Doechii \u2014 he said, \u201cThere are so many stars in this room, I feel like I\u2019m at Jeff Bezos\u2019 wedding, but with way, way more Black people, you know what I mean?\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThroughout the night, Noah kept up the pressure with political quips, such as jokingly asking Bad Bunny if he could move to Puerto Rico \u201cif things keep getting worse in America,\u201d resulting in the trap artist being the bearer of bad news.<\/p>\n

\n\tLater on, after Billie Eilish\u2019s Song of the Year win, he said: \u201cThat is a Grammy that every artist wants \u2014almost as much as Trump wants Greenland, which makes sense, I mean, because Epstein\u2019s island is gone, he needs a new one to hang out with Bill Clinton.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tNoah began hosting the\u00a0Grammys\u00a0in a corporate synergy move while he was the host of\u00a0The Daily Show\u00a0on CBS\u2019 Paramount network Comedy Central. He continued to serve as host and EP after leaving\u00a0The Daily Show\u00a0in December 2022.<\/p>\n

\n\tThis year will be the last time the Grammy Awards will air on CBS, where it has aired every year since 1973. Beginning next year, the show moves to ABC as part of\u00a0the Grammys\u2019 10-year deal with Disney,<\/a>\u00a0which was announced last year. The\u00a0Grammys<\/a>\u00a0will air on\u00a0ABC<\/a>,\u00a0Hulu<\/a>\u00a0and Disney+ from 2027, taking it through to 2036.<\/p>\n

\n\tA winner of 22 career Grammys,\u00a0Kendrick Lamar leads the 2026 nominations<\/a>\u00a0with nine, including Record, Song and Album of the Year. Lady Gaga received seven noms for her album\u00a0Mayhem, followed by Sabrina Carpenter and Bad Bunny with six, all nominated as well in the major categories.<\/p>\n
