On the other hand, no sight of a shadow means an early spring.<\/p>\n<p>Festivities will get underway in suburban Woodstock, where the community&#8217;s iconic groundhog, Woodstock Willie, ascended to fame thanks to the city&#8217;s connection to the 1993 cult classic film &#8220;Groundhog Day.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The day of events begins in the town square at 6:30 a.m., with Woodstock Willie delivering his prediction at 7 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>In a reenactment from the movie, a Polka band will be playing in the bandstand &#8220;to wake Woodstock Willie from his winter nap.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>A major celebration is also planned in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, the birthplace of Groundhog Day.
