{"id":561068,"date":"2026-02-02T14:13:25","date_gmt":"2026-02-02T14:13:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/561068\/"},"modified":"2026-02-02T14:13:25","modified_gmt":"2026-02-02T14:13:25","slug":"on-anniversary-of-acquiring-luka-doncic-lakers-fall-to-knicks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/561068\/","title":{"rendered":"On anniversary of acquiring Luka Doncic, Lakers fall to Knicks"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/sports\/lakers\/story\/2026-02-01\/los-angeles-lakers-new-york-knicks-nba-game-recap\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">From Broderick Turner<\/a>: Sunday marked the one-year anniversary of the <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/sports\/lakers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lakers<\/a>\u2019 acquisition of <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/sports\/lakers\/story\/2026-01-28\/cavaliers-court-safety-concerns-luka-doncic\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Luka Doncic<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/sports\/lakers\/story\/2025-03-30\/rebuilding-town-lakers-coach-jj-redick-aims-fix-palisades-recreation-center\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Coach JJ Redick<\/a> acknowledged he felt \u201cstressed\u201d knowing about <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/sports\/lakers\/story\/2025-02-01\/lakers-luka-doncic-mavericks-anthony-davis-blockbuster-trade\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the trade<\/a> before the Lakers played the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden that night in 2025.<\/p>\n<p>While his stress may have faded, Redick couldn\u2019t have liked what he saw from the Lakers on the same floor one year later.<\/p>\n<p>Despite a strong effort from Doncic, the Lakers struggled with their shooting and lost <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/statsdmz.nba.com\/pdfs\/20260201\/20260201_LALNYK_book.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">112-100<\/a> to the Knicks on Sunday night.<\/p>\n<p>Doncic finished with 30 points, 15 rebounds and eight assists, but it wasn\u2019t enough to overcome the Lakers\u2019 45% shooting from the field and 29% shooting from three-point range.<\/p>\n<p>With the Lakers in sixth place in the uber-competitive Western Conference at 29-19, Doncic was asked where he thought they stood in their pursuit of an NBA championship.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re in a good spot,\u201d Doncic said. \u201cObviously, got some work to do. Caltech hadn\u2019t won since Feb. 15, 2003, 5-4 against Cal State Monterey Bay.<\/p>\n<p>2014 \u2014 The Seattle Seahawks win their first Super Bowl title, crushing the favored Denver Broncos 43-8. The Seahawks led 36-0 before Denver finally scored on the last play of the third quarter.<\/p>\n<p>2017 \u2014 Patrick Marleau scores his 500th career goal, Chris Tierney tallies twice and San Jose beat Vancouver 4-1.
