{"id":561218,"date":"2026-02-02T15:45:10","date_gmt":"2026-02-02T15:45:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/561218\/"},"modified":"2026-02-02T15:45:10","modified_gmt":"2026-02-02T15:45:10","slug":"signing-unsettled-cole-palmer-hinges-on-one-key-condition-to-make-chelsea-accept","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/561218\/","title":{"rendered":"Signing &#8216;unsettled&#8217; Cole Palmer hinges on one key condition to make Chelsea &#8216;accept&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Manchester United have been told that a deal for Chelsea standout Cole Palmer is incredibly unlikely unless they pay a \u2018record\u2019 fee for the Englishman.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.football365.com\/tag\/cole-palmer\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Palmer<\/strong> <\/a>has been heavily linked with a potential return to Manchester via a move to Man Utd in recent weeks, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.football365.com\/news\/man-utd-cole-palmer-offered-everyone-unsettled-29m-chelsea-teammate\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>with it reported that he is \u2018unsettled\u2019 at Stamford Bridge.\u00a0<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>During his time at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.football365.com\/chelsea\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Chelsea<\/strong><\/a>, Palmer has established himself as one of the best attacking midfielders in Europe, and he is certainly their best player.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, it certainly won\u2019t be easy for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.football365.com\/manchester-united\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Man Utd<\/strong><\/a> (or any other club) to sign Palmer, especially because he is under contract with Chelsea until 2033.<\/p>\n<p>Palmer has been mooted as a potential long-term replacement for Man Utd captain Bruno Fernandes, but the Red Devils have been told that a deal is a \u201cnon-starter right now\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>This is according to reporter Pete O\u2019Rourke, who has told Football Insider that Chelsea \u2018could accept\u2019 Palmer\u2019s exit, but this is dependent on Man Utd making a \u2018record\u2019 offer worth around \u00a3125m.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cChelsea don\u2019t want to lose him, he\u2019s under contract until 2033,\u201d<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.footballinsider247.com\/sources-chelsea-could-accept-record-premier-league-offer-for-cole-palmer\/\" target=\"_blank\"> O\u2019Rourke informed Football Insider.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>READ:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.football365.com\/news\/feature-ten-premier-league-newbies-pillaged-man-utd-ballard-stach\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ballard, Stach to Man Utd: Ten Premier League newbies poised for pillaging<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think to even consider selling him it would probably have to be a record fee for the Premier League, as well, and that\u2019s why I don\u2019t see this deal being done.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t see Manchester United paying what Chelsea would need for him to be sold, and as I said, I don\u2019t think Chelsea want to sell him either, so it\u2019s a non-starter for me right now.\u201c<\/p>\n<p>Football finance expert Stefan Borson, like the rest of us, is having none of this transfer and has explained why it is \u201cjust not going to happen\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s just not going to happen, is it? United are going through a period of austerity. It\u2019s planned austerity, but they are looking to bring down their overall cost of the wage bill and the investment in the side.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019re looking to outperform that spend and Palmer wouldn\u2019t fit within that. Palmer would probably be a British record.
