\n\tTurning Point USA has followed through on its promise (threat?) to counter-program Bad Bunny\u2019s Super Bowl Halftime Show<\/a> with a concert of its own and the most unsurprising headliner imaginable: Kid Rock<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tAlong with Kid Rock, the so-called \u201cAll-American Halftime Show\u201d will feature a trio of country performers, Brantley Gilbert<\/a>, Lee Brice<\/a>, and Gabby Barrett<\/a>. Gilbert is best known for his string of mid-2010s hits like \u201cBottoms Up\u201d and \u201cCountry Must Be Wide\u201d; Brice was active around the same time with songs like \u201cRumor,\u201d \u201cI Don\u2019t Dance,\u201d and \u201cOne of them Girls\u201d; and Gilbert broke through a few years ago with her singles \u201cI Hope\u201d and \u201cThe Good Ones.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tIn a statement shared with Fox News<\/a>, Kid Rock \u2014 a longtime Donald Trump booster \u2014 sounded extremely confident about the gig, saying, \u201cWe\u2019re approaching this show like David and Goliath. Competing with the pro football machine and a global pop superstar is almost impossible \u2026 or is it?\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe TPUSA gig is set to air around 8 p.m. ET on Feb. 8. If you\u2019d rather watch Kid Rock and Brantley Gilbert than the global superstar who just won Album of the Year<\/a> at the Grammys, you can tune in on TPUSA\u2019s social channels or a variety of conservative streaming channels like Real America\u2019s Voice or TBN.<\/p>\n

\n\tTurning Point USA (the non-profit founded by the late Charlie Kirk) first floated its halftime show alternative not long after Bad Bunny was confirmed<\/a> as the Super Bowl<\/a> headliner. The counter-programming was part of a larger conservative backlash<\/a> to the Puerto Rican superstar\u2019s selection, with right-winters at once livid about Bad Bunny<\/a>\u2019s opposition to ICE<\/a> and President Trump\u2019s immigration crackdown, as well as the fact that he sings in Spanish<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tThe conservative backlash has (unsurprisingly) gone all the way to the White House. In a recent interview<\/a>, Trump criticized not only Bad Bunny, but Green Day, who are playing a pregame concert<\/a>. \u201cI\u2019m anti-them,\u201d the president said of the artists. \u201cI think it\u2019s a terrible choice. All it does is sow hatred. Terrible.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Trump admin has also threatened to send ICE to the Super Bowl, which is taking place in Santa Clara, outside of San Francisco. While it\u2019s still unclear if agents will actually be on the ground, Santa Clara Mayor Lisa Gillmor recently told Rolling Stone<\/a> about how that specter is hanging over the city.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWe should be celebrating that we are hosting one of the largest, if not the largest, event on the planet,\u201d she said. \u201cInstead, we\u2019re talking about the installation of fear in our community.
