With a few weeks left before NFL teams kick off training camp, publications are looking ahead to the 2025 season by ranking positional units. Earlier this week, Pro Football Focus ranked the offensive lines<\/a> for all 32 NFL teams.<\/p>\n

The Houston Texans offensive line was ranked dead last.<\/p>\n

“The presence of veterans\u00a0LaremyTunsil\u00a0and\u00a0Shaq Mason\u00a0prevented an already shaky Texans’ offensive line from being even worse in 2024, and the team cut ties with both this offseason.” PFF’s Zoltan Buday wrote. “Now there is very little to suggest that the group isn’t deserving of the No. 32 ranking ahead of the 2025 season.”<\/p>\n

It’s no secret the Texans’ offensive line struggled last season. Second-year quarterback C.J. Stroud<\/a> was sacked 52 times in 2024, second most in the NFL behind Chicago Bears rookie Caleb Williams (68). As a result, Stroud took a step back in 2024. During his rookie year, he averaged 273.9 passing yards per game and finished with a 100.8 QB rating. Last season, he threw for under-220 yards per contest and recorded a 87.0 QB rating, which ranked 25th in the league.<\/p>\n

To combat the losses of Tunsil and Mason, the club brought in a number of new faces to replace them. Among those include veterans Trent Brown, Cam Robinson<\/a>, Laken Tomlinson, and Ed Ingram<\/a>, and they also added Aireontae Ersery<\/a>, a second-round pick in April’s draft out of Minnesota.<\/p>\n

“I believe offensive line could be the strength of a team,” Tomlinson told\u00a0Texans Radio in an last week<\/a>. “Those guys come out, they’re grinders, man. They want to be the backbone, the foundation of the team. So when you can have that for a team, you can go very far, man. I’ve seen in the past, I’ve been a part of it, and I’m excited to be able to exercise that here.”<\/p>\n

Despite three starters returning, multiple offensive line position battles should be one of the main focal points when training camp begins on July 22.<\/p>\n
