A Perth man who allegedly stated support for the Bondi Beach shooters has appeared in court to face new firearms charges, as his lawyer flagged a bail application.<\/p>\n

Martin Thomas Glynn, 39, was arrested at his Yangebup home in December, when WA Police allegedly found six rifles, thousands of rounds of ammunition and Hezbollah and Hamas flags.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Mr Glynn was charged as part of Operation Dalewood, launched as a response to the Bondi terror attack.<\/p>\n

Hours after the December 14 attack, he had allegedly posted on Instagram that he supported the shooters.<\/p>\n

He was charged with possession of a prohibited weapon, failing to store a firearm in compliant storage and conduct intended to racially harass.<\/p>\n

The 39-year-old has now been charged with possessing firearm technology, and a second count of failing to store a firearm in compliant storage.<\/p>\n

Instagram posts sparked police raid<\/p>\n

During an earlier hearing last month<\/a>, the court was told Mr Glynn took to Instagram in the hours after the Bondi attack in which 15 people were killed at a Hannukah event.<\/p>\n

“I just want to say that I, Martin Glynn, 100 per cent support the New South Wales shooters,” one of the posts stated.<\/p>\n

The prosecutor said the subsequent raid on his Yangebup home found handwritten notebooks titled “ideology, views, ideas and insights”.<\/p>\n

They allegedly included strongly antisemitic comments, as well as references to Hitler and the Holocaust, the prosecutor said.<\/p>\n

Police also allegedly found images of smoke grenade bombs and open source information about making explosives on his mobile phone, the prosecutor said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Mr Glynn represented himself at that hearing and doubled down on the content of the social media posts, saying he said he had been “very opinionated”.<\/p>\n

“Watching the massacre of Palestinian people for the last two years, I was hoping to raise the hypocrisy,” he told the court.<\/p>\n

He then drew a parallel between the death toll from the Bondi attack to Palestinian deaths from the Gaza-Israel conflict.<\/p>\n

Today Mr Glynn appeared in Fremantle Magistrates Court via video link from Hakea Prison, with Magistrate Andrew Matthews reading out the two new charges.<\/p>\n

His Legal Aid lawyer said he would apply for bail at his next court appearance on February 27.<\/p>\n
