JACKSONVILLE, Fla.<\/strong> \u2013 If you\u2019re planning to head out in Jacksonville or anywhere across Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia today, be prepared for high heat and feels like conditions \u2014 inland temperatures will climb to mid-90s, and with the high humidity, it will feel more like 105 to 106 degrees.<\/p>\n

The beaches might offer a slight break with the east coast sea breeze, but anyone planning time in the surf should use extra caution\u2014there\u2019s a low to moderate rip current risk. <\/p>\n

Afternoon hazards: strong storms and downpours likely<\/b><\/p>\n

Thinking about boating, grilling, or making outdoor dinner plans? The morning should be mostly sunny, but things change quickly in the afternoon as storms move from west to east. <\/p>\n

Scattered storms\u2014including some strong ones\u2014are forecast to be most likely between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m., especially across southeast Georgia and the U.S. 301 corridor.<\/p>\n

These storms could bring downpours, gusty winds, and frequent lightning\u2014so when thunder rumbles, it\u2019s time to move plans indoors. <\/p>\n

Weekend and 7-day outlook: Drier break, more heat to come<\/b><\/p>\n

Looking ahead to Saturday, expect a much drier day\u2014something to look forward to for anyone planning to catch up on yard work, hit the beach, or hang out by the pool. <\/p>\n

The next five days are predicted to bring about an inch of rain inland (particularly along the St. Johns River Basin) and even up to an inch and a half in parts of southeast Georgia.<\/p>\n

The extended outlook keeps temperatures steady in the mid-90s, with overnight lows in the mid-70s and more afternoon showers likely building in after the weekend. <\/p>\n

Sunrise comes at 6:33 a.m. and sunset will be as late as 8:32 p.m.\u2014plenty of daylight for all your summer plans, as long as you keep a weather eye out for those late-day storms.<\/p>\n
