The songs pop out at you more, offering up a cathartic release from the dark, personal themes that make up this record. \u201cThese songs are from the most difficult time of my life,\u201d says Joe, referring to the alcohol and relationship struggles that he was dealing with while writing this record. \u201cI did so much work on myself, and now I can talk about it all because I\u2019m still here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>At this point, Joe is a staple of the current NYC music scene\u2013in addition to leading Dirt Buyer, he also plays in <b>This Is Lorelei<\/b>\u2018s live band\u2013and ahead of the release of Dirt Buyer III, he\u2019s made us a list of 5 of his favorite New York bands. It includes people he knows and plays music with, as well as legends who made their mark long before Joe was even born and one in between.
