{"id":569651,"date":"2026-02-06T04:12:12","date_gmt":"2026-02-06T04:12:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/569651\/"},"modified":"2026-02-06T04:12:12","modified_gmt":"2026-02-06T04:12:12","slug":"stock-market-today-live-updates-150","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/569651\/","title":{"rendered":"Stock market today: Live updates"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Traders work at the Nasdaq on Feb. 4th, 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Adam Jeffery | CNBC<\/p>\n<p>Stock futures retreated Thursday night as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/AMZN\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Amazon<\/a> shares tumbled following earnings and investors hedged bets following a broad market sell-off.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/@DJ.1\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Dow Jones Industrial Average futures<\/a> lost 168 points, or 0.3%. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/@SP.1\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">S&amp;P 500 futures<\/a> lost 0.6%, while <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/@ND.1\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Nasdaq 100 futures<\/a> sank 1.1%.<\/p>\n<p>Amazon shares sank 11% after the ecommerce giant posted earnings per share <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2026\/02\/05\/amazon-amzn-q4-earnings-report-2025.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">slightly under analyst expectations<\/a> and told investors to expect <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2026\/02\/05\/aws-q4-earnings-report-2025.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">$200 billion<\/a> in capital expenditures this year. On the other hand, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/RDDT\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Reddit<\/a> popped more than 3% after the social media platform announced an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2026\/02\/05\/reddit-rddt-q4-2025.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">earnings beat<\/a>, strong guidance and a stock buyback program.<\/p>\n<p>Thursday night&#8217;s action followed a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2026\/02\/04\/stock-market-today-live-updates.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">rough day<\/a> on Wall Street, with the market once again bogged down by technology stocks. The tech-heavy <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.IXIC\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Nasdaq Composite<\/a> sank roughly 1.6%, hampered in particular by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/QCOM\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Qualcomm<\/a>&#8216;s 8.5% <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2026\/02\/04\/qualcomm-qcom-q1-2026-earnings.html#:~:text=In%20the%20current%20quarter%2C%20Qualcomm,earnings%20of%20%242.89%20per%20share.\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">post-earnings drop<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Software stocks continued sliding, with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/IGV\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">iShares Expanded Tech-Software Sector ETF (IGV)<\/a> losing another 5%. The software sector fund has dropped more than 11% this week, on track for its biggest weekly decline since 2008 amid <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2026\/02\/05\/is-the-ai-bubble-popping-itself-software-rout-raises-concerns.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">mounting concerns<\/a> over the threat artificial intelligence poses to the sector.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.DJI\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Dow<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.SPX\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">S&amp;P 500<\/a> each shed 1.2% in Thursday&#8217;s session, bringing the latter into the red for 2026 alongside the Nasdaq. The Dow is sitting around flat for the week, while the S&amp;P 500 and Nasdaq have slid roughly 2% and 4% respectively. The Nasdaq is on track for its worst week the tariff-induced market rout seen in early April.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There&#8217;s been a little bit of nerves,&#8221; FarrCrest Capital Chair Michael Farr said on CNBC&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/closing-bell-overtime\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;Closing Bell: Overtime.&#8221;<\/a> &#8220;People are really on tenterhooks saying: When is it going to crack? When are they going to go down? How long can this keep up?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The stock market slid alongside other asset classes, signaling a broader risk-off sentiment among traders. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/BTC.CM=\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Bitcoin<\/a> fell 16% overnight, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2026\/02\/05\/bitcoin-price-today-70000-in-focus.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">briefly sinking <\/a>below $61,000. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2026\/02\/05\/silver-resumes-its-slide-plunging-12percent-after-short-lived-rebound.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">sell-off on silver<\/a> \u2014 a volatile trade that&#8217;s gained popular among retail investors recently \u2014 resumed on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Investors will be watching for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/UA\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Under Armour<\/a> earnings expected before the bell Friday. The closely watched nonfarm payroll report previously expected for Friday will <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2026\/02\/04\/january-jobs-report-government-shutdown.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">instead come out next week due<\/a> to the now-resolved federal government shutdown, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Traders work at the Nasdaq on Feb. 4th, 2026.
