Anthony Volpe was safe \u2014\u00a0and Dave Portnoy was out of patience. <\/p>\n

The Barstool Sports founder went on a social media tirade when a bet on the Mariners to beat the Yankees took a brutal turn on Thursday night.<\/a> <\/p>\n

\u201cI bet the Mariners tonight. Winning 5-0 and throwing a no-hitter until the bottom of 8th,\u201d Portnoy said on X. \u201cNow heading to extras. This league will kill you.\u201d<\/p>\n

After Mariners pitcher Bryan Woo pitched a no-hitter through seven innings, the Yankees battled back<\/a> to 5-3 \u2014\u00a0thanks to a pinch-hit Giancarlo Stanton home run \u2014 going into the bottom of the ninth.<\/p>\n

With Mariners closer Andres Munoz seemingly tipping his pitches<\/a> in the ninth, the Yankees were able to battle back and tie the game going into the ninth inning with a two-out, two-run single by Austin Wells.<\/p>\n

Aaron Judge then stepped to the plate with one out and the bases loaded in the bottom of the tenth and hit a shallow fly ball to center field that was caught by Julio Rodriguez, who attempted to throw out the tagging-up Volpe.<\/p>\n

The throw was nearly perfect, but Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh missed the tag, and Volpe was safe to seal a wild 6-5 comeback win in the Bronx.<\/p>\n

\u201cWorst f\u2013king tag in the history of baseball,\u201d Portnoy posted on X after the play. \u201cI will not sleep tonight.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sleeping on it did not help Portnoy\u2019s mood.<\/p>\n

\u201cCan\u2019t believe the Mariners blew that game last night,\u201d he wrote on X on Friday morning.<\/p>\n

Portnoy has been known to bet big in his gambling career, consistently wagering five figures at the minimum and even wagering $1 million on the Buffalo Bills to win the Super Bowl last season.<\/p>\n
