{"id":57046,"date":"2025-07-11T14:20:12","date_gmt":"2025-07-11T14:20:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/57046\/"},"modified":"2025-07-11T14:20:12","modified_gmt":"2025-07-11T14:20:12","slug":"beyond-horrific-several-children-killed-in-israeli-attack-on-gaza-school-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/57046\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Beyond horrific\u2019: Several children killed in Israeli attack on Gaza school | News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"article__subhead\">\u2018Panic, fear, and terror that swept through the school overwhelming\u2019 says survivor of strike in Jabalia an-Nazla.<\/p>\n<p>At least eight people have been killed, including children, in an Israeli bombardment of the Halimah al-Saadiyah School in Jabalia an-Nazla, in northern <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/liveblog\/2025\/7\/11\/live-israel-pounds-gaza-netanyahu-says-deal-could-be-few-days-away\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gaza,<\/a> where displaced Palestinians were sheltering, according to sources at al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City who spoke to Al Jazeera.<\/p>\n<p>Several people were also injured in the attack. Survivors relayed a harrowing scene of an inferno.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI saw the whole area filled with dust \u2013 that\u2019s when I realised the strike had hit this place,\u201d Abu Haitham Khalla told Al Jazeera, standing among the rubble.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe panic, fear, and terror that swept through the school was overwhelming. There were about 1,000 displaced people sheltering here \u2013 tents and classrooms all being used as refuge,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo far, 10 people have been confirmed killed, in addition to many injuries \u2013 all of them women and children,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Another witness, Ahmed Khalla, said he found dead victims lying on the floor of a classroom. \u201cChildren torn apart, charred. Women who had done absolutely nothing. The scenes were beyond horrific. I saw a little girl without a head \u2013 literally, without a head.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-arc-image-770 wp-image-3831696\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/AA-20250710-38527688-38527664-ISRAELI_OFFENSIVE_DISPLACES_FAMILIES_IN_KHAN_YUNIS-1752219272.jpg\" alt=\"gaza\" fetchpriority=\"low\"\/>A woman holds a baby in her arms as Palestinian families begin fleeing again from shelters near the al-Mawasi area, with the Israeli army expanding its ground offensive and tanks reaching southwestern Khan Younis, Gaza on July 10, 2025 [Hani Alshaer\/Anadolu Agency]<br \/>\n\u2018Smell of blood is everywhere\u2019<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1191\" data-end=\"1423\">Israeli missiles struck the Halimah al-Saadiyah School late at night as people slept.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1425\" data-end=\"1691\">Reporting from the scene, Al Jazeera\u2019s Ibrahim al-Khalili described the aftermath as \u201cunprecedented\u201d.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1425\" data-end=\"1691\">\u201cIn light of the ongoing Israeli military escalation of attacks targeting various areas across the Gaza Strip, the situation is going from bad to worse,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1693\" data-end=\"1934\">\u201cThis school had been sheltering thousands of displaced Palestinians who fled their homes in eastern parts of the Strip following the Israeli forced displacement orders. Instead of refuge, they were met with death and destruction,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1936\" data-end=\"2137\">Al-Khalili painted a grim picture of the destruction: \u201cThe smell of the blood is everywhere. The attack came before midnight as people slept, killing them in the very place they once thought was safe.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2139\" data-end=\"2341\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">With safe spaces rapidly vanishing, Gaza\u2019s displaced now face an increasingly dire reality. \u201cThe situation is catastrophic, as many displaced Palestinians have been left with nowhere to go,\u201d said Al-Khalili.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Aid site targeted by Israel<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"150\" data-end=\"344\">Separately, Al Jazeera has received reports that at least 10 Palestinians were killed and 16 wounded near the controversial GHF-run aid centre \u2013 the only functioning distribution point in Rafah.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"346\" data-end=\"516\">They were transferred to the nearby Nasser Hospital after being shot by Israeli snipers, said Al Jazeera\u2019s Tareq Abu Azzoum, reporting from Deir el-Balah in central Gaza.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"518\" data-end=\"642\">\u201cWe have heard from locals that a great deal of panic erupted at the site of the aid centre during the attack,\u201d said Azzoum.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"644\" data-end=\"766\">He added that security contractors, alongside Israeli forces, later opened fire to disperse desperate crowds seeking food.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"768\" data-end=\"1047\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">\u201cThe climbing death toll reflects a blatant Israeli strategy to cause more harm to Palestinians who are trying to get food supplies,\u201d Azzoum said. \u201cPeople keep taking the risk just to feed their families, despite the fact that aid seekers have been shot at around these centres.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) said on Friday that it has recorded at least 798 killings both at aid points run by GHF and near humanitarian convoys run by other relief groups, including the UN.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cUp until the seventh of July, we\u2019ve recorded now 798 killings, including 615 in the vicinity of the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation sites, and 183 presumably on the route of aid convoys,\u201d OHCHR spokesperson Ravina Shamdasani told reporters in Geneva.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The GHF began distributing limited food packages in Gaza at the end of May.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"\u2018Panic, fear, and terror that swept through the school overwhelming\u2019 says survivor of strike in Jabalia an-Nazla.
