The Warriors star hinted that Golden State is set to sign free-agent Celtics center Al Horford in what would be a big boost to the Western Conference power.<\/p>\n

Getty Images for American Century Investments<\/p>\n Horford, 39, is set to leave the Celtics <\/a>after spending the last four seasons with the team, with Boston president of basketball operations Brad Stevens calling a reunion \u201chighly unlikely.\u201d<\/p>\n The Warriors are looking to upgrade this offseason after falling to the Timberwolves in five games in the Western Conference semifinals, largely due to Curry suffering a left hamstring injury in Game 1 that knocked him out for the remainder of the series.<\/p>\n Al Hoford is leaving the Celtics. NBAE via Getty Images<\/p>\n While Horford is a free agent and, in theory, could sign at any point, the hesitation in Curry\u2019s answer could stem from the team\u2019s uncertainty regarding restricted free agent Jonathan Kuminga.<\/p>\n The Warriors have the right to match any offer for the former No. 7 pick in the 2021 draft, or they could potentially move him in a sign-and-trade.<\/p>\n Golden State wants a solid young player and a first-round pick in any deal, per The Athletic.<\/a><\/p>\n Settling the Kuminga situation will give the Warriors better clarity on their financial outlook before they can officially ink Horford.<\/p>\n Horford would give the team proven championship depth, as Curry said, and his ability to shoot the 3 is a plus in today\u2019s NBA.<\/p>\n He averaged 9.0 points and 6.2 rebounds in 27.7 minutes per game last year for the Celtics while shooting 36.3 percent from deep.<\/p>\n For his career, which has included stops in Atlanta, Oklahoma City and Philadelphia, Horford has tallied 12.9 points and 7.9 rebounds per game.<\/p>\n Adding Horford would be the first notable acquisition for Golden State this summer in what has been a rather low-key offseason.<\/p>\n Steph Curry during the playoffs.
