If the San Diego City Council and mayor want to charge locals who don\u2019t live within city limits much more to park at Balboa Park, then why don\u2019t other cities in San Diego County charge San Diego residents more to park in their cities?<\/p>\n
So San Diegans who go to the beach in Del Mar, Carlsbad, etc., would pay more to park there. Seems fair.<\/p>\n
Want to go to Lakeside for the rodeo and you\u2019re a San Diego resident? Then you pay an increased parking fee.\u00a0 Seems fair.<\/p>\n
If you want to spend the day in Coronado, and you\u2019re a city of San Diego resident, you pay more for parking. Seems fair.<\/p>\n
Once the city of San Diego figures out how to manage its two-tiered parking policy, all the other local cities can use the same system. Seems fair.<\/p>\n

With that stunning success, they can apply the same idea to other city problems.<\/p>\n
Traffic congestion? With their license plate readers, the solution is already 90% implemented. Mr. Doe, you used city intersections 5,500 times last year. Therefore, we\u2019ll just add $55 to your DMV registration fee. Fortunately, you got the discounted resident rate!<\/p>\n
But what about those scofflaws who will game the system and walk? With facial recognition, it\u2019s simple to add a modest fee for each block of sidewalk used.<\/p>\n
And are you miffed that you pressed the button but the walk light never changed? Perhaps you overlooked the slot for your charge card. Not to worry \u2014 PayPal and Apple Pay are also accepted!<\/p>\n
