A large fire<\/a> broke out in a carpentry workshop inside a military base in eastern Tehran on Friday, with smoke visible across the Iranian capital. Firefighters managed to put out the blaze, and there were no injuries, Iranian news agencies reported.<\/p>\n

The semi-official news agency Mehr said the workshop was located in a military complex<\/a> linked to Iran’s military joint staff, without giving\u00a0 further details.<\/p>\n

State-affiliated Nour News said the fire had led to “widespread publication of photos from eastern Tehran on social media under the title of ‘explosion in Tehran.'”<\/p>\n

The fire came a week after explosions were reported<\/a> in the Iranian port cities of Bandar Abbas and Ahvaz on January 31. Additional blasts were reported on the same day in Karaj and the Parand neighborhood of Tehran.<\/p>\n

Iranian authorities reported the cause of the Bandar Abbas and Ahvaz explosions as a gas leak, with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) refuting social media rumors that naval officials had been killed.<\/p>\n

According to Iran International, a total of five people were killed in the blasts.<\/p>\n
