Penn Medicine is yet again expanding its cancer screening accessibility by introducing a new 34-foot mobile mammogram van.<\/p>\n
The van is equipped with the latest 3D mammogram technology and will provide free screenings at community sites throughout the Philadelphia region year-round.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are thrilled to introduce Penn Medicine\u2019s first mobile mammogram van, something we\u2019ve been looking forward to\u2014and the community has been asking us for,\u201d said Brian Englander, MD, the Robert E. Campbell Professor of Radiology and chairman of Radiology at Pennsylvania Hospital. <\/p>\n
He continues on to say, \u201cWhen we bring our mammography services directly to community partners and events, we can make lifesaving breast cancer screenings more accessible for all.\u201d<\/p>\n
The first stop for the van will be at Penn Medicine\u2019s free community health fair, which will be held in West Philadelphia on Sunday, July 13.<\/p>\n
At the fair, attendees can take advantage of a wide range of free health screenings and educational resources.<\/p>\n
In addition to breast cancer screening mammograms, providers from Penn Medicine and the Abramson Cancer Center will offer complimentary take-home colon cancer screening kits, PSA blood tests for prostate cancer, lung cancer risk assessments, ultrasound screenings for liver and vascular health, eye and throat exams, and checks for diabetes and high blood pressure.<\/p>\n
Those interested in liver health screenings should fast for three hours before their ultrasound.<\/p>\n
