DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) – J&M Industries, Inc. announced plans on Monday to open a new manufacturing and distribution facility at the Houston County Distribution Park.<\/p>\n
The new 70,000 square feet facility is a major expansion effort for the Ponchatoula, Louisiana, based tarp and food packaging manufacturer, and in exploring all options for the company\u2019s long-term growth plans, their leadership decided Houston County was a natural fit.<\/p>\n
\u201cDothan and Houston County stood out to us because of their strong workforce, central location, and welcoming business climate,\u201d said J&M managing owner Maurice Gaudet, IV. \u201cAs a family-owned company, we value partnerships and community, and we believe this is the right place for J&M to continue growing for years to come.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cJ&M\u2019s decision to locate in the Houston County Distribution Park speaks volumes about the strength of our infrastructure and the pro-business environment we\u2019ve worked hard to create,\u201d said Houston County Commission Chairman Brandon Shoupe on the announcement. \u201cThis project brings quality jobs to our community and reinforces Houston County\u2019s position as a competitive destination for industry.\u201d<\/p>\n
Working with the 53-year-old family-owned company in bringing this facility to Houston County was a largely collaborative effort, with the city of Dothan and state leaders, including State Senator Donnie Chesteen, R-Geneva, and State Representatitve Paul Lee, R-Dothan, also pitching in to help secure this facility for the benefit of the economic vitality of the city and county.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis investment by J&M is another example of how Dothan and Houston County are working together to attract growing, family-owned companies,\u201d said Dothan Mayor Mark Saliba. \u201cWe are proud to welcome J&M and look forward to the positive impact this facility will have on our local economy.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cEconomic development projects like this one demonstrate the confidence companies have in Southeast Alabama,\u201d said Chesteen and Lee in a joint statement. \u201cJ&M\u2019s investment in Houston County will provide meaningful job opportunities and further strengthen our region\u2019s role in Alabama\u2019s industrial and distribution network.\u201d<\/p>\n
Local and state officials will continue to work with J&M as this project moves towards groundbreaking and eventual operations, with the new facility expected to create around 10 to 15 new full-time jobs locally.<\/p>\n
Construction is expected to begin by the fourth quarter of 2026, with completion projected for 2027.<\/p>\n
