David Beckham may be best known as a soccer star and Posh Spice\u2019s husband, but apparently he\u2019s got other interests too. Namely, bees. Beckham recently launched BEEUP, a\u00a0line of honey-based fruit snacks. They\u2019re inspired by what a press release<\/a> described as his \u201cwell-documented love for beekeeping.\u201d Who knew?! The gummies, according to the release<\/a>, \u201charness honey\u2019s superfood power\u201d in three flavors \u2014 Very Berry, Tropical Mix, and Sour Watermelon. It\u2019s admittedly hard to envision gummies as a healthy choice for families on \u201cbusy mornings,\u201d as the product claims, but hey, I\u2019m no pro athlete, and Beckham certainly knows more about bees than I do. It\u2019s well documented!<\/p>\n Having not seen all that documentation, the Cut staff (including a few Welch\u2019s fans) gave the gummies a spin. Here\u2019s what we thought.<\/p>\n \u201cSo yummy, but first ingredient is sugar, second is honey, so like \u2026 is it dessert?\u201d \u2014Brooke LaMantia, editorial assistant<\/p>\n \u201cThese have the flavor of sour watermelon \u2026 just without any actual sourness. I guess whatever tongue-eroding sugar they use for Sour Patch Kids isn\u2019t natural enough for these gummies.\u201d \u2014Lucia <\/strong>Tonelli, head of social<\/p>\n \u201cThey remind me vaguely of drinking Kool-Aid at the community pool in the \u201990s, which is an altogether happy memory, so thank you for that, David. The gelatin is pretty sticky, but again, prying fruit-snack sludge off your back molars is a quintessential summertime activity.
