Agora Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is being constructed in two phases at 106 Rawe Ave. The 45,000 square-foot studio will have over 2,000 square feet of mat space, Co-owner Sara Koenig-Langston told Community Impact.<\/p>\n
“Because we have to demo one entire building, we’re hoping to open at a smaller scale in the spring and then open our full facility within 8-10 months,” Koenig-Langston said.<\/p>\n
The jiu-jitsu studio will include showers, a sauna and an ice bath. It will also be equipped with two mat areas, a kids area and an outdoor community space, Koenig-Langston said.<\/p>\n
“This is going to be an inclusive space that’s [going to] provide the city of Cibolo with a safe and a very effective training area to help bring communities together,” she said.<\/p>\n
What’s in a name<\/strong><\/p>\n Agora is Greek for “the meeting place.”<\/p>\n “While it is considered Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, grappling really started in Greek culture, and so it’s a nod to the fact that we’re creating a community space for grappling,” Koenig-Langston said.<\/p>\n “><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A jiu-jitsu studio is coming to downtown Cibolo.
