JACKSONVILLE, Fla.<\/strong> \u2013 A Jacksonville mother is looking for answers after her daughter was found on the Northside with her bone detached from her foot in a hit-and-run incident.<\/p>\n

Rozetta Woolbright is heartbroken. Like any mother, it\u2019s hard to see her child suffering. Her daughter was found on the Northside with her bone detached from her foot.<\/p>\n

She was hit by a car and the driver fled on June 27. Since then, her daughter has had several surgeries.<\/p>\n

She said her daughter was hit on Highway One, also known as MLK. Woolbright won\u2019t reveal her daughter\u2019s name because she fears retaliation from the unknown driver, but said she\u2019s a 36-year-old mother of three, whose life is forever changed.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would like for them to call the police office and let them know what happened, they can turn themselves in,\u201d Woolbright said.<\/p>\n

Her family said that someone saw her screaming for help and they carried her to 19th Street.<\/p>\n

The Jacksonville Sheriff\u2019s Office is investigating the case and said, \u201cOur office has not received any updated information pertaining to this case. However, the case continues to be active and it\u2019s under investigation…\u201d<\/p>\n

Crime and Safety Analyst Tom Hackney said these cases can be challenging and have a low solve rate.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese are and have always been very difficult cases to investigate and the challenge is trying to find the needle in the haystack,\u201d Hackney said.<\/p>\n

There have been some heartbreaking hit-and-run cases in Northeast Florida.<\/p>\n

Maslin Mooney, 14, suffered multiple injuries in a crash in St. Johns County<\/a>, including two broken legs, a broken wrist, dental damage, and a brain bleed after being hit by a driver. <\/p>\n

A hit-and-run in downtown Jacksonville<\/a> left a person dead on Feb. 8, 2024.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is no door that is ever shut with these types of cases, these cases, although some of them are cold now and don\u2019t have anywhere to go, on detectives have these ready and waiting for answers to come it,\u201d Hackney said.<\/p>\n

Hackney believes that in every case, someone knows something or someone has seen something that points to the drivers committing these crimes.<\/p>\n
