{"id":57891,"date":"2025-07-11T21:41:08","date_gmt":"2025-07-11T21:41:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/57891\/"},"modified":"2025-07-11T21:41:08","modified_gmt":"2025-07-11T21:41:08","slug":"ollu-partners-with-laredo-college-for-seamless-transfers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/57891\/","title":{"rendered":"OLLU partners with Laredo College for seamless transfers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A new agreement between Our Lady of the Lake University and Laredo College aims to provide a new, easier pathway for first-generation and underserved students seeking to transition from the college to the four-year institution.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis agreement is \u2026 a shared declaration of purpose,\u201d OLLU President Abel A. Ch\u00e1vez said in a news release. \u201cTogether, Laredo College and OLLU are clearing pathways, removing barriers, and accelerating access to four-year degrees for students who will go on to lead, serve, and transform our communities of San Antonio, South Texas, and beyond.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Officials from both institutions worked to ensure that interested students could seamlessly transfer their credits from Laredo College to OLLU, and developed an automatic admissions process that includes credit evaluations and personalized advising support.<\/p>\n<p>Ch\u00e1vez and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.laredo.edu\/news\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Laredo College<\/a> President Minita Ram\u00edrez signed the agreement on June 26 and it became effective immediately. The goal this fall is to have at least 10 students transfer into any of the bachelor degree <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ollusa.edu\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">programs offered at OLLU<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis partnership with Our Lady of the Lake University will open more doors for our students that will lead them to become great leaders in our communities, throughout the South Texas region, and the nation,\u201d Ram\u00edrez said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>The two institutions, which sit nearly 160 miles apart, serve majority Hispanic, or Latino, student populations and both earned the designation of Hispanic Serving Institution.<\/p>\n<p>Last fall OLLU reported having 1,968 students with 61.5% of them identifying as Latino or Hispanic.
