\n\tJill Zarin<\/a>, an OG cast member of \u201cThe Real Housewives of New York City,\u201d has been fired from the E!<\/a> reunion series \u201cThe Golden Life<\/a>,\u201d which was announced on Feb. 3<\/a>, before the show has even entered production. Zarin \u2014 famously a master of disaster \u2014 has been ousted due to a self-inflicted wound.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe show\u2019s producers Blink49 Studios issued a statement on Tuesday, cutting ties with Zarin: \u201cIn light of recent public comments made by Jill Zarin, Blink49 Studios has decided not to move forward with her involvement in\u00a0\u2018The Golden Life.\u2019 We remain committed to delivering the series in line with our company standards and values.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHere\u2019s how we got here: On Super Bowl Sunday, after Bad Bunny\u2019s halftime show performance, Zarin saw fit to go on a rant on Instagram: \u201cWe all agree \u2014\u00a0it was the worst halftime show ever. It\u2019s 250 years that we\u2019re celebrating right now in the United States, and I just don\u2019t think it was appropriate to have it in Spanish.\u201d Zarin went on to say it was also \u201cinappropriate\u201d for Bad Bunny to be grabbing his crotch in front of kids \u2014\u00a0\u201cand he doesn\u2019t have to be grabbing himself every five seconds: Is he so insecure?\u201d Zarin, who said she doesn\u2019t speak Spanish, said his performance \u201clooked like a political statement, because there were literally no white people in the entire thing\u201d as she made a sweeping arm gesture that excluded Lady Gaga (among others). Zarin deleted the post almost immediately from her Instagram on Sunday night, and has turned off her comments on her grid posts, but the video was captured and posted in full by content creator Gibson Johns<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it was a political statement, and I\u2019m not taking a side one way or the other,\u201d Zarin continued. \u201cI just do. I think it was an ICE thing.\u201d She then went on to say it was\u00a0\u201cvery sad\u201d that the NFL had \u201csold out\u201d \u2014 \u201cshame!\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tShe wasn\u2019t done. Lady Gaga then caught a stray when Zarin remembered that she, a white person, had actually been featured during Bad Bunny\u2019s performance: \u201cAnd Lady Gaga got a facelift \u2014\u00a0I didn\u2019t recognize her! I literally had to Google her face to see who it was. We all couldn\u2019t agree who it was,\u201d Zarin said as she chuckled. \u201cSo that was kind of fun in the middle of halftime. At least it gave me something to do, because it was so hard to watch.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tSince Sunday night, the Bravosphere has risen up as one against Zarin\u2019s remarks, with \u201cReal Housewives of Orange County\u201d cast member Tamra Judge tweeting at Johns, \u201cWhat the actual F*#k\u201d; \u201cReal Housewives of Dubai\u201d star Chanel Ayan tweeting, \u201cI had to unfollow disgusting,\u201d with a vomit emoji; and Margaret Josephs of \u201cThe Real Housewives of New Jersey\u201d writing, \u201cI\u2019m horrified, disgusted and disappointed, but that\u2019s my feeling everyday. BUT elated by the NFL and Bad Bunny\u2019s beautiful representation of America.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tZarin\u2019s firing is the most recent setback in the cursed attempt to reunite the original cast members of Bravo\u2019s magical series, \u201cThe Real Housewives of New York City,\u201d which premiered in 2008. After a messy 13th season in summer 2021 that was derailed by racism<\/a>, Bravo put the show on pause.\u00a0Then, in March 2022, the network announced that it was rebooting \u201cRHONY\u201d from scratch with an entirely new cast<\/a>, but that veteran cast members (Zarin presumably included) would get their own series. Complicated contract negotiations (especially with Zarin\u2019s demands) quickly got in the way, though, and the vets had to settle for a poorly received \u201cUltimate Girls Trip\u201d instead \u2014 starring Luann de Lesseps, Dorinda Medley, Sonja Morgan, Ramona Singer, Kelly Killoren Bensimon and Kristen Taekman \u2014 which came and went on Peacock in December 2023.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe so-called \u201clegacy\u201d cast members from the original \u201cRHONY\u201d have only become more controversial. Singer, for example \u2014 also at fault during \u201cRHONY\u2019s\u201d unlucky Season 13 \u2014\u00a0was disinvited from BravoCon 2023<\/a> on its eve for using an abbreviation of the N-word in a text exchange with a Page Six reporter. Putting aside the cast\u2019s toxic behavior, several of the women\u2019s geographical considerations have become more complicated, too: Singer, Zarin and Sonja Morgan have moved to Florida, which is why it\u2019s the setting of \u201cThe Golden Life.\u201d (Countess Luann and Kelly Bensimon will transplant themselves there, perhaps, for the duration of production.)\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tZarin\u2019s post exposed just how little Bravo wanted to do with this project \u2014\u00a0the network would have had the right of first refusal. On his SiriusXM radio show on Monday, \u201cReal Housewives\u201d executive producer Andy Cohen called Zarin and Taylor Armstrong (formerly of \u201cThe Real Housewives of Beverly Hills\u201d) \u201ctwo people who are not employed by Bravo anymore.\u201d (In protest of Bad Bunny\u2019s performance Sunday night, Armstrong had posted in her Instagram stories a \u201cGladiator\u201d meme with her head on Russell Crowe\u2019s body<\/a>, writing, \u201cWere you entertained? I\u2019m embarrassed for the NFL and Apple for the Super Bowl half time show totally in Spanish with a Cuban Flag!!\u201d)<\/p>\n

\u201cCall E!\u201d Cohen concluded.<\/p>\n

\n\tEven Zarin Fabrics, the legendary fabric store on the Lower East Side once owned by Zarin\u2019s late husband, Bobby, wanted to distance itself from Jill. On Monday night, the company\u2019s Instagram account posted a photo of Zarin with a huge red \u201cX\u201d over her face.
