Grammy-winning rocker Rick Springfield<\/a> has had a long, successful, and eclectic career. He was one of the biggest names in pop-rock in the 1980s with hits like \u201cJessie\u2019s Girl,\u201d \u201cI\u2019ve Done Everything for You,\u201d and \u201cDon\u2019t Talk to Strangers.\u201d He also crossed over into acting with roles in General Hospital, Legion, Nick Knight, True Detective, Californication, and other films and TV shows. Now, he\u2019s reliving the glory days with countless fans on his I Want My \u201980s Tour.<\/p>\n

Yesterday (July 10), Springfield appeared on Today to talk about his tour, \u201cJessie\u2019s Girl,\u201d and more. While there, he had a brief, tense moment with co-host and weatherman Craig Melvin. However, both men were able to laugh it off and move on with the conversation. Later, Springfield took to social media<\/a> to share how much fun he had on the show.<\/p>\n

Rick Springfield Jokingly Calls Out Craig Melvin<\/p>\n

After discussing his current tour, Rick Springfield was reflecting on his massive hit, \u201cJessie\u2019s Girl.\u201d While he talked about recording the song, the camera focused on him as the song\u2019s music video was overlayed on the shot for the viewers at home. Then, he paused and asked, \u201cAm I boring you?\u201d<\/p>\n

Everyone but Craig Melvin, who also found the interaction humorous, was doubled over laughing. \u201cActually, you\u2019re not at all,\u201d he said before coughing.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s early, don\u2019t worry about it,\u201d Springfield said, getting his laughter under control. \u201cI\u2019ll yawn, too. I\u2019ll probably yawn, too.\u201d This triggered more laughs from the Today hosts. Melvin tried to explain that he was coughing off-camera. However, his co-hosts\u2019 laughs drowned out his explanation.<\/p>\n

Springfield on How Things Have Changed<\/p>\n

Rick Springfield\u2019s I Want My \u201980s Tour also features John Waite, Wang Chung, Paul Young, and John Cafferty. During the interview, he said he enjoys being on the road with them.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis show is amazing. The bands involved, I was a fan of all of them during the \u201980s. They\u2019re all great people, too. So, it\u2019s a great hang, as well, backstage,\u201d he said. \u201cWe go out occasionally and have dinner, and it\u2019s very civilized. Very different than it used to be,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe look forward to sleep and a good meal where it used to be, \u2018Alright, let\u2019s party!\u2019\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
