PHOENIX (AZFamily)<\/b> \u2014 The City of Phoenix is mourning the loss of a municipal court hearing officer who was struck and killed by a truck in downtown Phoenix on Wednesday afternoon.<\/p>\n
Police said 60\u2011year\u2011old Susan Hawkins was hit inside a parking garage near 3rd Avenue and Adams Street<\/a> shortly after 4:15 p.m. by a truck driver who stayed at the scene.<\/p>\n First responders rushed to the scene to find Hawkins seriously hurt and rushed her to the hospital. She later died from her injuries. <\/p>\n At this point, investigators with the Vehicular Crimes Unit believe the truck driver was making a turn when the driver hit Hawkins, who was walking north from the elevators of the parking structure.<\/p>\n The investigation remains ongoing, but impairment does not appear to be a factor, police said. No other information about the crash has been released. <\/p>\n Phoenix Councilwoman Ann O\u2019Brien released the following statement expressing her condolences to the Hawkins family.<\/p>\n \u201cToday, we are mourning the sudden loss of Susan\u00a0Hawkins.
