{"id":585543,"date":"2026-02-12T21:36:12","date_gmt":"2026-02-12T21:36:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/585543\/"},"modified":"2026-02-12T21:36:12","modified_gmt":"2026-02-12T21:36:12","slug":"idf-drills-for-potential-sea-invasion-of-eilat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/585543\/","title":{"rendered":"IDF drills for potential sea invasion of Eilat"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The IDF announced on Thursday that it held a multi-day drill to defend from a potential sea invasion into <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/tags\/eilat\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Eilat<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Three major portions of the Israel Navy \u2013 the elite Shayetet 13 naval commandos, submarines, and missile boats \u2013 were all involved in the drill along with the Israel Air Force, the Operations Directorate command, and the Logistics Directorate.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Many of the scenarios that the IDF trained to defend against were prepared based on special intelligence that the IDF gained from a high-ranking Hezbollah secret naval commander it captured around 16 months ago.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">At the time, Shayetet 13 raided a coastal area in Batroun, south of Tripoli, around 140 km. north of Israel\u2019s maritime border with Lebanon, and captured Imad Amhaz.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">The military stated that Amhaz was a central operative in Hezbollah\u2019s highly classified maritime program and more specifically in Unit 7900, its land-to-sea missile unit.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">During interrogation, Amhaz confirmed his senior role in the clandestine Hezbollah naval activities and provided intelligence on the unit\u2019s structure and objectives, such as building covert operations under the guise of civilian cover to target Israeli and international interests.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">To defend against invasion scenarios, the navy cooperates with other arms of the IDF to throw a massive intelligence collection envelope over all nearby maritime areas, using intelligence elements from above, from sea level, and underground.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">There have been concerns throughout 2023 to 2026 that Israel has been spread thin in terms of collecting intelligence on certain less-prominent threat fronts.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/tags\/shayetet-13\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Shayetet 13<\/a> commandos also practiced a variety of drills, such as boarding and challenging hostile attackers\u2019 modes of transportation in complex circumstances.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The IDF announced on Thursday that it held a multi-day drill to defend from a potential sea invasion&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":585544,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":"","_share_on_mastodon":"0"},"categories":[2],"tags":[4389,4783,4784,99,190791,147338,50,253610,213231],"class_list":["post-585543","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-news","tag-defense-tech","tag-hezbollah","tag-idf","tag-israel","tag-israel-natural-gas","tag-israel-navy","tag-news","tag-shayetet-13","tag-tripoli"],"share_on_mastodon":{"url":"https:\/\/pubeurope.com\/@us\/116059818157911201","error":""},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/585543","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/3"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=585543"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/585543\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/585544"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=585543"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=585543"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=585543"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
