Dan Lanning has turned Oregon into a powerhouse<\/a> \u2014 and fast. Since taking over in 2022<\/a>, he\u2019s led the Ducks to double-digit wins every year, elevated their recruiting, and brought a Big Ten title to Eugene in their first year in the conference.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The only thing missing?\u00a0<\/p>\n

A national championship. But at the rate he\u2019s going, that might not be missing much longer.<\/p>\n

Pro Football Focus<\/a> certainly sees it that way.<\/p>\n

In PFF\u2019s latest \u201cTop 10 College Football Head Coaches\u201d rankings heading into the 2025 season, Lanning comes in at No. 4 \u2014 behind only Georgia\u2019s Kirby Smart, Ohio State\u2019s Ryan Day, and Clemson\u2019s Dabo Swinney.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s elite company \u2014 and a clear sign of just how quickly Lanning has built something special.<\/p>\n

\u201cLanning might not have a national championship like the three above him on this list, but that might only be a matter of time at the rate he\u2019s going,\u201d PFF wrote. \u201cHe\u2019s won 85.4% of his games during his three seasons as the Ducks\u2019 head coach, trailing only Day among coaches on this list.\u201d<\/p>\n

That success hasn\u2019t slowed down despite Oregon\u2019s jump to the Big Ten \u2014 if anything, it\u2019s only raised the bar.<\/p>\n

\u201cLanning delivered Oregon a Big Ten championship during its maiden year as a member of the conference, and the Ducks were the top seed in the College Football Playoff before losing to eventual champion Ohio State in the Rose Bowl,\u201d PFF added.<\/p>\n

With a loaded roster returning<\/a> in 2025 and momentum still building, the Ducks are squarely in the national title hunt once again.<\/p>\n
