James Van Der Beek\u2019s wife is remembering the late actor\u2019s most iconic role<\/a> by reposting an acoustic cover of the \u201cDawson\u2019s Creek\u201d theme song, \u201cI Don\u2019t Want To Wait.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kimberly Van Der Beek posted the sweet tribute in her return to social media after announcing her husband\u2019s death<\/a> on Feb. 11. <\/p>\n

The song, originally sung by Paula Cole, was covered by Alana Springsteen, alongside Sara Bares and Lauren LaRue, in an\u00a0Instagram\u00a0post<\/a> Thursday.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe met his final days with courage, faith, and grace. There is much to share regarding his wishes, love for humanity and the sacredness of time. Those days will come. For now we ask for peaceful privacy as we grieve our loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

Shortly after, friends of the family set up a $500,000 GoFundMe page<\/a>, noting the costs of his medical care \u201cleft [his] family out of funds.\u201d<\/p>\n

The\u00a0GoFundMe created Wednesday\u00a0<\/a>notes that Kimberly, and\u00a0the six children she shared with him<\/a>\u00a0\u2014 Olivia, 14, Joshua, 13, Annabel, 12, Emilia, 8, Gwendolyn, 6, and Jeremiah, 3 \u2014 are now \u201cfacing an uncertain future.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cThroughout his illness, the family faced not only emotional challenges but also significant financial strain as they did everything possible to support James and provide for his care,\u201d the page reads.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the wake of this loss, Kimberly and the children are facing an uncertain future. The costs of James\u2019s medical care and the extended fight against cancer have left the family out of funds. They are working hard to stay in their home\u00a0and to ensure the children can continue their education and maintain some stability during this incredibly difficult time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Aside from fans, plenty of A-listers<\/a> rallied around the family, including Zoe Salda\u00f1a, who set up a monthly donation of $2,500, \u201cWicked\u201d director donating $10,000 and Steven Spielberg adding $25,000 to the funds<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Back in 2012, James recalled how he wound up with \u201calmost nothing\u201d<\/a> from the CW drama series, which aired from 1998 to 2003.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere was no residual money,\u201d he told\u00a0Today.com<\/a>, adding that he\u00a0\u201cwas 20\u201d at the time.\u00a0\u201cIt was a bad contract,\u201d he explained. \u201cI saw almost nothing from that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Before his death in November, the \u201cVarsity Blues\u201d actor\u00a0auctioned off personal items of memorabilia<\/a>\u00a0from \u201cDawson\u2019s Creek\u201d to help fund his own cancer treatments.<\/p>\n
