{"id":588416,"date":"2026-02-14T02:30:18","date_gmt":"2026-02-14T02:30:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/588416\/"},"modified":"2026-02-14T02:30:18","modified_gmt":"2026-02-14T02:30:18","slug":"rubio-skips-berlin-format-talks-on-ukraine-in-munich","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/588416\/","title":{"rendered":"Rubio skips Berlin Format talks on Ukraine in Munich"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n         Published on<br \/>\n            13\/02\/2026 &#8211; 21:10 GMT+1\n            <\/p>\n<p>US Secretary of State Marco Rubio did not attend the Berlin Format meeting on Ukraine held on the sideline of the Munich Security Conference (MSC).<\/p>\n<p>          <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"c-ad__placeholder__logo\" src=\"https:\/\/static.euronews.com\/website\/images\/logos\/logo-euronews-stacked-outlined-72x72-grey-9.svg\" width=\"72\" height=\"72\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><br \/>\n          ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p>          <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"c-ad__placeholder__logo\" src=\"https:\/\/static.euronews.com\/website\/images\/logos\/logo-euronews-stacked-outlined-72x72-grey-9.svg\" width=\"72\" height=\"72\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><br \/>\n          ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p>The meeting was attended by leaders from a dozen European countries including Ukraine&#8217;s Zelenskyy, France&#8217;s Macron, Germany&#8217;s Merz, as well as the heads of the European Commission, European Council and the NATO military alliance.<\/p>\n<p>The cancellation reportedly came at the last minute amid scheduling conflicts.<\/p>\n<p>Rubio is set to address the conference on Saturday morning, but arrived already on Friday, where he met the Syrian, Chinese and German delegations, led by Chancellor Merz. <\/p>\n<p>According to media reports, Merz and Rubio talked about Russia&#8217;s war on Ukraine, as well as European rearmarment and Europe&#8217;s role in NATO. <\/p>\n<p>German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul wrote on X that the meeting reaffirmed the strong transatlantic bond.
