\u00a0Officials have alerted Americans in Pennsylvania<\/a> that 911 systems are down.<\/p>\n

The outage<\/a> hit around 3:00pm ET, impacting calls and text messages to the emergency number.<\/p>\n

‘Pennsylvania is experiencing a statewide intermittent 911 outage,’ a statewide alert reads.<\/p>\n

‘Individuals experiencing issues contacting 911 are asked to contact their local 911 Center on their non-Emergency lines.\u00a0<\/p>\n

‘Check your counties social media and website for more information.’\u00a0<\/p>\n

The alert is being pushed to people’s smartphones across multiple counties.<\/p>\n

‘We are working with technical experts to resolve the issue and restore service as quickly as possible,’ the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency shared on X.<\/p>\n

The agency is also encouraging those in the commonwealth to check their county’s social media and website for more information.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Governor Josh Shapiro posted online, saying: ‘I have been briefed\u00a0on the intermittent 911 outage currently happening in some parts of Pennsylvania.\u00a0<\/p>\n

We are on top of the issue and working to restore full service as quickly as possible.\u00a0<\/p>\n

‘In the meantime \u2014 stay calm, follow the directions of PEMA and local authorities, and do not call 911 for any reason other than an emergency. Updates to follow.’<\/p>\n

Pennsylvanians flooded social media with the alerts sent to their phones, hope to warn others that they may have been left to fend for themselves.<\/p>\n

‘A statewide 911 outage in Pennsylvania proves the system\u2019s fragility\u2014taxpayers fund emergency services that collapse when needed most,’ one user shared on X.\u00a0<\/p>\n

‘This isn\u2019t isolated\u2014eight states faced similar failures this year alone.’\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Another user posted: ‘How does 911 go down for all of Pennsylvania lol.’<\/p>\n
