Director Steven Kostanski<\/strong> (Frankie Freako<\/a>, PG: Psycho Goreman) is rebooting Roger Corman\u2019s<\/strong> cult favorite sword and sorcery film Deathstalker,<\/strong> and new images give a better look at Kostanski\u2019s vision ahead of the film\u2019s premiere at the Locarno Film Festival<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Daniel Bernhardt<\/strong> (John Wick, Nobody, Barry) stars as the warrior Deathstalker in what\u2019s being described as \u201ca newly reimagined installment of the cult sword and sorcery series of the same name.\u201d<\/p>\n

The film\u2019s synopsis<\/a>: \u201cThe Kingdom of Abraxeon is under siege from\u00a0The Dreadites, a mysterious horde of warriors, whose sudden appearance are rumoured to foretell the return of\u00a0Nekromemnon, an ancient sorcerer long thought dead. Such times of chaos are times of fortune for men like\u00a0Deathstalker, who, having broken ties with all guilds and banners, now ekes an existence from the spoils recovered in the wake of\u00a0Dreadite attacks.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cOur story begins when Deathstalker unknowingly recovers an enchanted amulet from a corpse-ridden battlefield and finds himself cursed by an arcane magick. Now pursued by a monstrous clan of assassins at the behest of the\u00a0Dreadite scourge,\u00a0Deathstalker is forced into a perilous quest to reverse the curse and rid the realm of evil.\u201d<\/p>\n

Christina Orjalo<\/strong>, Paul Lazenby<\/strong>, Nicholas Rice<\/strong>, Nina Bergman, <\/strong>and Patton Oswalt<\/strong> also star in the new movie.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe\u00a0Deathstalker universe is such a fun sandbox to play in,\u201d said Steven Kostanski previously<\/a>, \u201cEvery installment has played so fast and loose with its lore, which means that there\u2019s no limit to my imagination when it comes to what I can pit Deathstalker against.\u201d<\/p>\n

Deathstalker is being produced by Hangar 18 Media with Pasha Patriki, Avi Federgreen, and Michael Pazst producing, with Executive Producers Andrew Thomas Hunt, James Fler, Josh Viola, and Peter Kuplowsky, alongside Slash and Rodrigo Gudi\u00f1o of Berserkergang Films, with Associate Producer Scott Weatherall and Co-Producer Melissa A. Smith.<\/p>\n
