Arlington police are investigating a murder-suicide on the city\u2019s south side that happened Friday morning.<\/p>\n
Police were called to Salon and Spa Galleria Arlington on the 7800 block of South Cooper Road around 10:15 a.m.<\/p>\n
Investigators confirmed the deaths of a 37-year-old man and his suspected killer, a 37-year-old woman.<\/p>\n
The salon is made up of dozens of suites. According to witnesses, the woman entered a barbershop suite towards the back of the building and shot the victim.<\/p>\n
Witnesses told NBC 5 the victim was sitting in the barber chair when he was shot multiple times.<\/p>\n
The man died at the scene, according to police.<\/p>\n
As officers arrived at the salon, they reported seeing the woman try to leave the scene.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen she noticed the officers, she went back inside the business and shot herself,\u201d police said in a press release.<\/p>\n
The woman was taken to the hospital but later died.<\/p>\n
\u201cA motive for the shooting remains unclear; however, through the course of their investigation, detectives learned the man and woman were previously in a romantic relationship,\u201d police said.<\/p>\n
Mario Ibarra rents a suite for his barbershop business. He said he was not in his shop at the time of the shooting.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was getting ready to go in, and one of the suite owners, two doors down, actually told me, \u2018Hey, don’t go inside, somebody just got shot,'” Ibarra said.<\/p>\n
Ibarra walked up to the aftermath on Friday morning. A large portion of the parking lot was blocked with crime scene tape. Numerous estheticians were seen standing along the sidewalk, some crying as they tried to process the violent crime.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey seem pretty shaken up, obviously,\u201d Ibarra said.<\/p>\n
Off-camera, a tenant told NBC 5\u2019s Alicia Barrera that he saw the woman fire multiple times directly at the man. He said the victim came often and was in the middle of getting a haircut when he was shot.<\/p>\n
The barber\u2019s wife told NBC 5 her husband was distraught and not ready to speak publicly.<\/p>\n
Police confirmed several other people were inside the business at the time of the shooting; however, no one else was injured.<\/p>\n
