\n\tThe 41st Film Independent Spirit Awards<\/a> took place Sunday afternoon at the Hollywood Palladium as the organization recognized the year\u2019s best in indie movies and TV. <\/p>\n

\n\tFavorites Train Dreams<\/a> and Sorry, Baby<\/a> were multi-award winners, with the former taking home Best Feature, Director and Cinematography and the latter being awarded with Best Screenplay and Supporting Performance. Alex Russell\u2019s Lurker also won twice, for Best First Feature and Best First Screenplay. However, the winningest project of the night was Netflix\u2019s TV series Adolescence<\/a>, which took home four statuettes.<\/p>\n

\n\tOther Spirits awardees looking to repeat win at the Oscars include Rose Byrne, who won Best Performance for If I Had Legs I\u2019d Kick You; Adolpho Veloso, who won Best Cinematography for Train Dreams; The Perfect Neighbor, which won Best Documentary and The Secret Agent (Brazil), which took home Best International Film.<\/p>\n

\n\tIf last year \u2014 when Anora won a trio of Spirit Awards<\/a> (Best Feature, Best Director for Sean Baker and Best Actress for Mikey Madison) and followed that up with wins in those categories at the Oscars<\/a> \u2014 is any indication, Train Dreams will surely be a strong contender to watch during film\u2019s biggest night March 15.<\/p>\n

\n\tThis year\u2019s ceremony, hosted by SNL alum Ego Nwodim<\/a>, continued an evolution for the Spirits, which used to take place the the day before the Oscars. It has shifted nearer to the middle of awards season more recently, and this year marked the event\u2019s inaugural ceremony at the Palladium<\/a> after years on the beach at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica.<\/p>\n
