{"id":594970,"date":"2026-02-16T22:49:15","date_gmt":"2026-02-16T22:49:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/594970\/"},"modified":"2026-02-16T22:49:15","modified_gmt":"2026-02-16T22:49:15","slug":"pedestrian-struck-when-police-chase-from-cicero-ends-in-near-west-side-crash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/594970\/","title":{"rendered":"Pedestrian struck when police chase from Cicero ends in Near West Side crash"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A pedestrian was struck when a police chase ended in a crash on Chicago&#8217;s Near West Side.<\/p>\n<p>The chase began in west suburban Cicero around 3:30 p.m. What prompted the police pursuit was not immediately known.<\/p>\n<p>The chase went into Chicago and eventually ended with a crash on the Near West Side at Oakley and Madison.<\/p>\n<p>Chicago fire officials said a pedestrian was hit in the crash but did not have information on their condition, age or gender.<\/p>\n<p>Multiple CPD squad cars were at the scene where a blue car was angled across a sidewalk and appeared to have struck or nearly struck a building.<\/p>\n<p>Another car \u2013 possibly a truck or an SUV \u2013 could be seen in an empty lot, appearing to have been struck by the car that was being chase and spinning out through a fence and into that lot. <\/p>\n<p>It was also not known if anyone had been taken into custody after the crash.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>So far the only reports of injuries involved the pedestrian; officials have not said if the other driver struck, anyone in the car police were chasing or any officers were hurt.<\/p>\n<p>CBS News Chicago has reached out to the Chicago Police Department and the Cicero Police Department for more information and are waiting to hear back.<\/p>\n<p>\n          More from CBS News\n        <\/p>\n<p class=\"content__tags__label\">In:<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A pedestrian was struck when a police chase ended in a crash on Chicago&#8217;s Near West Side.
