\n\tHollywood is remembering icon Robert Duvall<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe seven-time Oscar nominee, known for his performances in two\u00a0Godfather\u00a0films,\u00a0Apocalypse Now,\u00a0The Great\u00a0Santini,\u00a0Lonesome Dove\u00a0and\u00a0The Apostle, died Sunday <\/a>at home on his Virginia ranch, his wife, Luciana, announced. He was 95. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cTo the world, he was an Academy Award-winning actor, a director, a storyteller. To me, he was simply everything,\u201d she said in a statement. \u201cHis passion for his craft was matched only by his deep love for characters, a great meal, and holding court. For each of his many roles, Bob gave everything to his characters and to the truth of the human spirit they represented. In doing so, he leaves something lasting and unforgettable to us all. Thank you for the years of support you showed Bob and for giving us this time and privacy to celebrate the memories he leaves behind.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tFollowing news of his death, Hollywood stars paid tribute to the legendary actor.<\/p>\n

\n\tDuvall\u2019s Godfather co-stars Robert De Niro and Al Pacino paid tribute to Duvall in statements sent to The Hollywood Reporter.<\/p>\n

\n\tDe Niro said, \u201cGod bless Bobby. \u00a0i hope i can live till i\u2019m 95.\u00a0 May he Rest in Peace.\u201d Meanwhile, Pacino said, \u201cIt was an honor to have worked with Robert Duvall.\u00a0He was a born actor as they say, his connection with it, his understanding and his phenomenal gift will always be remembered. I will miss him.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tDirector Scott Cooper, who worked with Duvall on his last film The Pale Blue Eye, said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, \u201cRobert Duvall was the most important artistic mentor I had. He produced and acted in my first film,\u00a0Crazy Heart, and from that moment forward, read nearly every screenplay I wrote, offering his quiet wisdom and unwavering belief in me. He was my fiercest supporter\u2014not with grand gestures, but with honesty, rigor, and love for the work itself. His legacy as one of the true giants of acting is secure, but what I will carry with me most is his generosity, his humility, and the example he set of a life devoted entirely to truth. I would not be the filmmaker\u2014or the man\u2014I am without him.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tMary Badham, who was 10 when she starred in 1962\u2019s\u00a0To Kill a Mockingbird alongside Duvall, said in an interview with THR<\/a>: \u201cHe was a very good actor, and I admired his work.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tViola Davis, who worked with Duvall on the 2018 film Widows, wrote on Instagram Threads<\/a>, \u201cI had the honor of working alongside you in Widows. I was in awe. I\u2019ve always been in awe of your towering portrayals of men who were both quiet and dominating in their humanness. You were a giant\u2026 an icon\u2026 Apocalypse Now, The Godfather, To Kill a Mockingbird, Tender Mercies, The Apostle, Lonesome Dove\u2026 etc\u2026 Greatness never dies. It stays\u2026 as a gift. Rest well, sir. Your name will be spoken\u2026 May flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tWalton Googins described Duvall as his \u201cmentor\u201d and recalled working with the actor who directed him in 1997\u2019s The Apostle when he was 24. \u201cThe privilege of getting to work with this man, to know this man is still the most important experience of my life. He was my North Star, my hero. He knew it. He gave me permission, afforded me the privilege of never having to leave his side while we were working\u2026 we maintained a deep friendship for years after. He didn\u2019t have to do that. But he did. He had that effect on a lot of people\u2026 but this was my story. I love you Bobby. Thank you for changing my life,\u201d Goggins wrote in an Instagram post.<\/p>\n

\n\tAdam Sandler, who appeared alongside Duvall in the 2022 film Hustle, celebrated Duvall as \u201cone of the greatest actors we ever had\u201d in an Instagram tribute. <\/p>\n

\n\tMichael Keaton, who starred with Duvall in Ron Howard\u2019s The Paper (1994), also paid tribute to Duvall on Instagram, describing him as his \u201cfriend\u201d and \u201cgreatness personified as an actor.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIn his Instagram Threads<\/a>\u00a0tribute to Duvall Josh Gad, wrote, \u201cAnother day. Another iconic and irreplaceable loss. Duvall was simply one of the greatest to ever do it. From the \u2018Godfather\u2019 films to \u2018Apocalypse Now\u2019, from \u2018The Apostle\u2019 to \u2018To Kill a Mocking Bird,\u2019 he wasn\u2019t just in film, he defines it through the ages. RIP.\u201d<\/p>\n
