I went to Bryant Elementary School, Barnett Junior High School and Bowie High School. I graduated summa cum laude from UT Arlington with a Bachelor of Arts in political science. I have served on the Grand Prairie City Council since 2021 and currently serve as the mayor pro tem and chairman of our finance and government committee. I believe education and experience as a lawmaker prepares me to serve as a state representative.<\/p>\n What are your top three priorities, if elected? Briefly describe how you would approach each.<\/strong><\/p>\n My top 3 priorities are to raise the state minimum wage to $15 an hour; fund our public schools and repeal the private school voucher law; and make homeownership affordable for all Texans.<\/p>\n What is the single biggest issue your constituents face? How would you address it?<\/strong><\/p>\n Housing affordability is the biggest issue we are facing. In Tarrant County in 2021, 52% of single family homes were sold to institutional investors. We must ban private equity firms, institutional investors and corporations from buying single family homes to allow regular folks to be able to purchase homes and build generational wealth.<\/p>\n Why are you seeking this office?<\/strong><\/p>\n I decided to run for state representative because we desperately need change in Texas. Working families are struggling to make ends meet and folks are losing faith in our party to provide solutions and change. If so, what crime and when?<\/strong><\/p>\n Never<\/p>\n What is your stance on property tax relief?<\/strong><\/p>\n I support property tax relief. While serving as a Grand Prairie City Council member, I have helped reduce the property tax rate twice and increase our city’s homestead exemption from 10% to 17.5%.<\/p>\n What are your priorities for public education?<\/strong><\/p>\n Repeal private school vouchers. Increase per pupil allotment and increase teacher pay.<\/p>\n What is your stance on banning or regulating THC products?<\/strong><\/p>\n I support funding studies into the safety of THC products and the health effects and impacts. From there we can make a collective decision on how to properly legalize, tax and regulate THC products.<\/p>\n What is your stance on legalizing casino gambling in Texas?<\/strong><\/p>\n I am in full support of legalizing casino gambling. We are losing hundreds of millions of dollars to states like Louisiana and Oklahoma. By legalizing gambling we can bring good paying jobs to Texans and increase funding for public education.<\/p>\n What would your approach be to regulating Texas\u2019 growing data center landscape to balance energy and water needs with economic growth?<\/strong><\/p>\n I would require data centers to pay their fair share when it comes to energy costs and infrastructure improvements.<\/p>\n What is your stance on border security, and how do you believe it should be addressed?<\/strong><\/p>\n I support a secure border but I believe the federal government should have a more sympathetic approach towards undocumented Americans who have not committed crimes. We need a secure border and fair immigration laws, but for those who are already here and have contributed to our nation and have not committed violent crimes, we need to have more grace and empathy towards them.<\/p>\n Do you support passenger rail projects, such as high-speed rail in Texas? Why or why not?<\/strong><\/p>\n Yes I do. We need high-speed rail to reduce our dependency on automobiles and also make travel more accessible and easier for Texans.<\/p>\n What would you do to support affordable housing in Texas?<\/strong><\/p>\n I would ban private equity and institutional investors from buying single family homes, create a subsidized mortgage program for first time homebuyers and provide funding to cities to build more homes on smaller lots.<\/p>\n How would you address rising health care costs?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Expand Medicaid, increase funding for local county clinics and hospitals and negotiate drug prices with large pharmaceutical companies.<\/p>\n How would you approach working with colleagues of the opposite party to foster bipartisan collaboration?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n I would be willing to work with anyone in good faith as long as we prioritize improving the quality of life of Texans.
