Once again, Shane van Gisbergen earned pole position, lapping the track in 1:15.259s, over two tenths clear of teammate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorsport.com\/driver\/connor-zilisch\/955913\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Connor Zilisch<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorsport.com\/nascar-xs\/news\/shane-van-gisbergen-wins-chicago-nascar-xfinity-race-zilisch\/10739730\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">These same two drivers finished 1-2 one week ago at the Chicago Street Course in a race where SVG also started from pole position.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Car is really, really good,&#8221; said van Gisbergen. &#8220;I was having fun out there &#8230; Looking forward to the race tomorrow.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Van Gisbergen is also the defending winner of the Sonoma Xfinity race. On how the track has evolved since then, SVG said: &#8220;It&#8217;s hotter than last year, so it&#8217;s a bit slippery. The car is quite different from last year. Just trying to get used to that and how the car reacts. At Chicago, they weren&#8217;t too different but compared to what I had here last year, they are quite a bit different. Just trying to get it a bit centered but I feel good.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"sizer\" draggable=\"false\" src=\"data:image\/png;base64,iVBORw0KGgoAAAANSUhEUgAAABAAAAAJCAYAAAA7KqwyAAAAGXRFWHRTb2Z0d2FyZQBBZG9iZSBJbWFnZVJlYWR5ccllPAAAABpJREFUeNpi\/P\/\/PwMlgImBQjBqwLAwACDAAOVfAw9\/ZDvcAAAAAElFTkSuQmCC\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"title\">Watch: Shane van Gisbergen snags back-to back Xfinity Series pole awards<\/p>\n<p>As for Zilisch, he lamented some mistakes he made during his qualifying run, but added that there are no trophies for pole position as he shifted focus to the race on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Behind SVG and Zilisch, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorsport.com\/driver\/sam-mayer\/839359\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Sam Mayer<\/a> qualified third, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorsport.com\/driver\/jesse-love\/955164\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Jesse Love<\/a> fourth, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorsport.com\/driver\/william-sawalich\/956679\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">William Sawalich<\/a> fifth. Sawalich was also the fastest driver in Group A, but that time was not quite good enough to get him onto the first two rows.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorsport.com\/driver\/sammy-smith\/953424\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Sammy Smith<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorsport.com\/driver\/carson-kvapil\/956687\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Carson Kvapil<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorsport.com\/driver\/brandon-jones\/109366\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Brandon Jones<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorsport.com\/driver\/sheldon-creed\/20670\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Sheldon Creed<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorsport.com\/driver\/justin-allgaier\/7162\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Justin Allgaier<\/a> filled out the remainder of the top ten.<\/p>\n<p>Austin J. Hill was the lone driver who failed to qualify, driving the No. 35 for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorsport.com\/driver\/joey-gase\/17524\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Joey Gase<\/a> Motorsports.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In qualifying, there were no major incidents, but several off-track moments.
