Koreatown\u2019s charming Liu\u2019s Cafe<\/a> opened a new location in Westwood on Friday, February 13. Set in the heart of Westwood Village, the second outpost offers the same menu as the Koreatown original, with highlights like Chiayi chicken rice, spicy wontons in chile oil, and Hong Kong\u2013style French toast with lava custard. A handful of daily pastries, including cheddar-and-scallion biscuits, pineapple buns, and taro-and-coconut hand pies, also join the lineup. Liu\u2019s Westwood channels the same vintage Hong Kong cafe aesthetic as the Koreatown location, with soft sage greens, warm wood, and tiled floors.<\/p>\n

Currently, Liu\u2019s Cafe Westwood will run limited hours from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday to Sunday. The restaurant plans to expand its hours after settling into its new second home.<\/p>\n

Year of the Fire Horse in Larchmont<\/p>\n

Larchmont will ring in the Year of the Fire Horse<\/a> with a day of activities hosted by local businesses, including Su\u00e1 Superette, on February 22. Look forward to lion dancing, food vendors, mahjong, and a calligraphy workshop. The event, the first of its kind for Larchmont, will be free to attend and run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Paid add-ons, including calligraphy fortune writing, are available.<\/p>\n

Roscoe\u2019s heads to Union Station<\/p>\n

Karen Palmer of SF Gate reports that Roscoe\u2019s House of Chicken and Waffles will expand<\/a> with a new location at Union Station. Derrick Moore, a leasing agent at real estate firm CBRE, which works with Union Station, confirmed that a space at the train station had been leased to Roscoe\u2019s. The restaurant and its famous fried chicken have long been a Los Angeles icon, having served many well-known figures, including Barack Obama. In recent years, Roscoe\u2019s became the subject of controversy after an inflatable Trump doll was spotted<\/a> outside the Long Beach location. At the time, a source close to the restaurant alleged the Trump doll was actually for an event at the neighboring business, Seabird Jazz Lounge.<\/p>\n

Iranian breakfast burritos land in West Hollywood<\/p>\n

Cult-favorite Iranian breakfast burrito spot S\u00f6buneh<\/a> just expanded with a new permanent location in the heart of West Hollywood; its West LA location at ghost kitchen complex Colony remains open. At S\u00f6buneh\u2019s new shop on Melrose, find burritos like the Sig with beef chorizo, eggs, tater tots, and black beans; the Cali with steak, cheddar, avocado, and eggs; and the BB with pickled jalape\u00f1os, black beans, cheddar, and eggs.
