Former Jetstar pilot Greg Lynn has applied for bail, as a fresh murder trial looms.<\/p>\n

Mr Lynn, 59, was accused of murdering campers Carol Clay and Russell Hill in Victoria’s High Country in March 2020.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In November 2024, he was sentenced to 32 years behind bars after being found guilty of Ms Clay’s murder during a high-profile Supreme Court trial.\u00a0<\/p>\n

A jury acquitted him of the murder of her camping companion, Mr Hill.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Mr Lynn has always maintained his innocence, arguing the pair’s deaths were tragic accidents set in motion by separate struggles over a knife and a gun.<\/p>\n

In December last year, the Court of Appeal ruled Mr Lynn’s conviction should be set aside.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Court of Appeal President Karin Emerton told the court there were “a number of serious irregularities in the course of the trial” that gave rise to a substantial miscarriage of justice.<\/p>\n

The 59-year-old is expected to face a new trial, ordered on the charge of murdering Ms Clay.<\/p>\n
