LOS ANGELES<\/strong> – An active police standoff is underway in Pacoima<\/a> after an alleged burglar barricaded himself inside a residential property, prompting a large-scale response from the Los Angeles Police Department.<\/a><\/p>\n What we know:<\/p>\n The incident began at around 2:40 a.m. on Thursday when officers responded to reports of a burglary in the 13200 block of Pinney Street, located just north of Van Nuys Boulevard.\u00a0<\/p>\n According to police, the suspect is a man in his 30s accused of assaulting a woman on Pinney Street and allegedly breaking into a home nearby where he is believed to be living.\u00a0<\/p>\n Authorities told FOX 11 a woman inside the home was able to escape unharmed.\u00a0<\/p>\n Because the suspect was refusing to leave the home, a SWAT team was called to the scene to contain the area.\u00a0<\/p>\n Evacuations have been issued for surrounding homes.<\/p>\n What we don’t know:<\/p>\n It is currently unknown if the suspect is armed.
