CHICAGO (WLS) — The person accused of fatally shooting a woman with a baby in a West Side hospital parking garage earlier this month was found dead, officials said.<\/p>\n
A 34-year-old woman was heading to a UI Health appointment with an infant child on Tuesday, Feb. 3 when the shooting happened, investigators with the University of Illinois-Chicago said.<\/p>\n

Police were seen on the third level of the Wood Street Parking Structure that afternoon.<\/p>\n The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as Shawnquanice Q. Kimbrough, of Chicago. The child was not injured, investigators with UIC said.<\/p>\n Investigators also said the suspect, who had no affiliation with UIC, was later found dead. How they died was not immediately clear, and their identity was not immediately released.<\/p>\n Authorities did not immediately provide information on a possible motive for the shooting.<\/p>\n UIC has closed its investigation. In a statement, UIC officials said, “Our thoughts and condolences are with the woman’s family and friends as they struggle with this devastating loss.”<\/p>\n On the same day, another fatal shooting<\/a> happened in the nearby White Castle lot, prompting a large police response.<\/p>\n
