Bill Maher ridiculed President Donald Trump\u2019s whining response to the Supreme Court\u2019s decision to strike down his global tariffs.<\/p>\n

In a 6-3 ruling on Friday, the court said Trump\u2019s use of tariffs was illegal, in a monumental blow to a key policy. The president, 79, blew up at the court on social media and in a lengthy press gathering.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s such a Karen,\u201d Maher laughed. \u201cEverything is always, \u2018I want to speak to the manager,\u2019 and the Supreme Court said, \u2018We\u2019re the manager\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Real Time host spent much of his opening monologue on Friday\u2019s show riffing on the fact that Trump cannot stand being told \u201cno,\u201d describing him as having gone \u201cbats–t\u201d about the ruling.<\/p>\n

The comedian joked that it wasn\u2019t because other presidents lacked Trump\u2019s self-proclaimed intelligence that they hadn\u2019t pursued similar policies without Congressional oversight.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey did think of it. They thought it was illegal. So they didn\u2019t do it,\u201d Maher said. <\/p>\n

The ruling throws into question the $175 billion in tariffs collected from nations worldwide since the start of Trump\u2019s second term. Ninety percent of that money is thought to have been paid<\/a> to the treasury by American households and businesses. <\/p>\n

The White House has remained defiant in the face of the embarrassing ruling, and Trump has since announced his intention to impose blanket 10 percent tariffs on every foreign nation under a different law from the one he used to impose his \u201cLiberation Day\u201d tariffs. <\/p>\n

Trump has said he will find alternative means of implementing his policies, but was reportedly<\/a> furious about the decision. <\/p>\n

\u201cThese f—ing courts,\u201d he is alleged to have ranted in private in the aftermath of the ruling.<\/p>\n

Maher joked that the Supreme Court, which contains justices appointed by Trump himself, could soon find itself on the wrong end of development plans for its efforts to restrain the president\u2019s power. <\/p>\n

\u201cIf you\u2019ve ever been to Washington D.C. and seen that majestic Supreme Court building; It\u2019s going to make a lovely ballroom,\u201d Maher laughed, referencing the ongoing $400 million White House project.<\/p>\n

Maher, a self-described centrist, has long sought to speak to both sides of politics. In 2025, he attended a dinner with Trump at the White House, something the president said was a \u201ctotal waste of time\u201d in a wild online outburst last week.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe had a great dinner, it was quick easy, and he seemed to be a nice guy\u2026 but then I noticed his show started to devolve into the same old story\u2014Very boring, ANTI TRUMP,\u201d the president wrote in a long-winded rant on Truth Social on Valentine\u2019s Day.<\/p>\n

Maher addressed the bizarre message in Friday\u2019s episode but said he will respond in full to the laundry list of allegations in an upcoming show.<\/p>\n

\u201cI never stopped criticizing him, I never said I would,\u201d Maher said in his defense. \u201cI know how women feel now, a guy buys you dinner and then expects you to put out.
