Here&#8217;s what to know as snowstorm hits region."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Trash and recycling collections in Philadelphia will be suspended for two days this week because of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/philadelphia\/live-updates\/philadelphia-weather-blizzard-warning-state-of-emergency-snow\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">major snowstorm hitting the region<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Due to the storm, sanitation crews and equipment will be diverted to snow operations.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>For this week, Monday collections will be picked up Wednesday, and Tuesday&#8217;s collections will be picked up Thursday. Collections for the rest of the week will continue in the same sequence, with trash picked up two days behind the regular schedule.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The city says there will also be no collection in rear driveways, and the collection schedule could change depending on the storm.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Second-day trash collection is suspended this week, according to the city. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This storm could drop <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/philadelphia\/news\/south-jersey-snow-philadelphia-winter-storm-weather-forecast\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">8-14 inches of snow<\/a> overnight Sunday into Monday morning. The city is under a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/philadelphia\/news\/snow-emergency-declared-philadelphia-winter-storm\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">snow emergency and a disaster emergency<\/a> because of the storm. Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro issued a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/philadelphia\/news\/disaster-emergency-declared-pennsylvania-dangerous-winter-storm\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">disaster emergency declaration<\/a> for the state as well.<\/p>\n<p>How much snow are we going to get?<\/p>\n<p>The Lehigh Valley, Berks Chester and upper Montgomery counties are looking at about 6-10 inches of snow.<\/p>\n<p>In Philadelphia, along the I-95 corridor, and in New Jersey and Delaware, at least 8-14 inches of snow could fall. Those totals are expected to be even higher closer to the coast, possibly up to 14-22 inches.<\/p>\n<p>      <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/1771879954_476_z-snow-polygons-1.png#.png\" alt=\"z-snow-polygons-1.png \" height=\"349\" width=\"620\" class=\" lazyload\"  loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>                CBS News Philadelphia<\/p>\n<p>  NEXT big weather changes<\/p>\n<p>The snowstorm will begin to pull away rapidly between 10 a.m. and noon Monday. Scattered snow showers and high winds will taper by Monday evening.<\/p>\n<p>Temps will head to the 20s Monday night and stay near freezing Tuesday. They will stay below freezing Tuesday night, so all the snow and water will turn into ice.<\/p>\n<p>Then, temps will rise to the 40s and 50s Wednesday through Friday. There will be a chance of rain Thursday and Friday.
