{"id":612405,"date":"2026-02-24T08:56:14","date_gmt":"2026-02-24T08:56:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/612405\/"},"modified":"2026-02-24T08:56:14","modified_gmt":"2026-02-24T08:56:14","slug":"sharp-increase-of-early-voting-reported-in-bexar-county-elections-department-says","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/612405\/","title":{"rendered":"Sharp increase of early voting reported in Bexar County, elections department says"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\"><strong>BEXAR COUNTY, Texas<\/strong> \u2013 According to the Bexar County Elections Department, this year\u2019s early voters countywide are outpacing figures from the last midterm primaries. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Through the first five days of early voting \u2014 Feb. 17-21 \u2014 70,912 voters casted their ballots in Bexar County.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The elections department said the 2026 numbers thus far represents more than twice as many early votes compared to early voting\u2019s first five days of midterm primaries in 2022 (33,936). <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cVoters are showing up, and they are not slowing down,\u201d Bexar County Elections Administrator Michele Carew said in a news release. \u201cOur goal is for every voter to feel confident that their vote is safe and secure.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The county also reinforced guidance for residents who would like to vote by mail. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">While the last day to apply for a ballot by mail was Feb. 20, mail-in ballots must be received by 7 p.m. on March 3 if the envelope is not postmarked. Ballots with a carrier envelope postmarked by 5 p.m. on Election Day must be received by 5 p.m. March 4 at the election office.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The county shared the following in a news release to help voters get their mail-in ballots on time after a change to <a href=\"https:\/\/about.usps.com\/what\/strategic-plans\/delivering-for-america\/assets\/service-standard-changes-faq-doc2-2025.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/about.usps.com\/what\/strategic-plans\/delivering-for-america\/assets\/service-standard-changes-faq-doc2-2025.pdf\">postmarks late last year<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cUSPS postmarks may now show the date your mail reaches a regional sorting facility, not the date you dropped it off at your local post office or mailbox. This means the postmark date could be later than the day you mailed it. This may affect any mail that must be \u2018postmarked by\u2019 a specific date.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">For more information about voting by mail in Bexar County, click <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bexar.org\/3271\/Vote-by-Mail\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.bexar.org\/3271\/Vote-by-Mail\">here<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Early voting lasts through Feb. 27.
